The Bold and the Beautiful: Where Did All the Love Go for Our Favorites?
Oh, my sweet, dramatic The Bold and the Beautiful! For decades, I’ve been glued to my screen, witnessing every scandalous affair, every passionate declaration, every tear-soaked breakup. From Stephanie’s iron will to Brooke’s endless love affairs, to the very fabric of Forrester Creations, I’ve lived and breathed this show since day one. And let me tell you, while the drama is always top-notch, lately, I’ve been scratching my head about a few characters who seem to be stuck in a romantic holding pattern. It’s like they’re living in a love-free zone, only existing to comment on everyone else’s complicated lives!
DailyDrama.com has identified at least three fan-favorite characters who are long overdue for a compelling love story of their own. And as a seasoned B&B observer, I couldn’t agree more. Let’s dive into who deserves a proper shot at happiness, and why the writers need to get on it, STAT!
Katie Logan: Our Dearest Katie, Still Searching for Her ‘Forever’?
First up, my heart goes out to the incredible Katie Logan, portrayed with such raw emotion by the phenomenal Heather Tom. Can we just talk about Katie for a minute? This woman has faced more heartache than almost anyone on the canvas. From her serious health issues to being constantly caught in the crossfire between her sisters and the men they love, Katie has always emerged stronger. Remember her intense romance with Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) back in the day? Or even her beautiful, albeit doomed, marriage to Thorne Forrester (Winsor Harmon, then Ingo Rademacher)? Those were genuine, independent love stories!
But for years now, Katie seems to be perpetually linked to Bill Spencer (Don Diamont), a man who, let’s be honest, has broken her heart more times than I can count, always returning to Brooke. Or she’s awkwardly involved in some pseudo-triangle with Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). Katie is a strong, intelligent, compassionate woman who deserves a man who chooses her, unequivocally. She needs someone who isn’t torn between her and her sister, someone who puts her first, always. It’s time for B&B to give Katie a mature, stable, and passionate relationship that doesn’t involve recycled drama. Perhaps a brand-new character could sweep her off her feet, or maybe even a surprising pairing with someone who truly appreciates her resilience and unwavering heart!
Carter Walton: The Best Man, Never the Groom?
Oh, Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor)! If ever there was a character who deserved a happy ending, it’s Carter. This man is the epitome of a good guy: loyal, handsome, successful, and always there for his friends. Yet, his romantic life has been a series of unfortunate events that would make even the most seasoned soap fan wince. We saw him get strung along by Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes), only for her to chase Zende. Then came the explosive, passionate, and utterly captivating affair with Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer) – a storyline that had us all on the edge of our seats! But alas, Quinn left town.
And what about his disastrous almost-marriage to Paris Buckingham (Diamond White), which he only pursued to spite Quinn? It’s like Carter is destined to be the rebound guy, the second choice, or the one left standing at the altar. Lawrence Saint-Victor brings such charisma and depth to the role; it’s a crime he doesn’t have a leading lady who is equally invested in him. Carter needs a woman who is strong, independent, and not afraid to commit. He needs a partner, not a project or a placeholder. I’m rooting for the writers to introduce someone completely new, someone who can finally give Carter the epic love story he so richly deserves, free from the entanglements of the Forrester-Logan-Spencer love quadrangle!
RJ Forrester: Where’s the Romance for the New Generation’s RJ?
And finally, let’s talk about the prodigal son, RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman). When this charming young man, the son of the iconic Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) – yes, a true ‘Bridge’ baby! – returned to Los Angeles, I was absolutely thrilled! A new generation Forrester, with a fresh face and a new career as a social media influencer. The possibilities for romance, for new triangles, for shaking up the younger set, seemed endless!
Yet, what have we seen? RJ is mostly confined to sketching designs for his dad or acting as a sounding board for his parents’ never-ending drama. Where is the love life? Where are the dates? The flirtations? The passionate embraces? Remember his original portrayer, Anthony Turpel, and his sweet connection with Coco Spectra (Courtney Hope)? That had potential! Joshua Hoffman is a talented young actor, and it feels like a massive missed opportunity for B&B to not have him embroiled in a compelling romantic storyline. He’s handsome, charming, and comes from soap opera royalty! He needs a proper love interest, someone to spark fireworks with. Perhaps a burgeoning romance with Luna (Lisa Yamada) could finally give him some much-needed romantic focus, or introduce a new character who can truly challenge him and bring out his passionate Forrester side! It’s time for RJ to step out of his parents’ shadow and into his own love story!
It’s Time for Love, B&B!
The Bold and the Beautiful thrives on love and romance, and these three characters are too compelling, too beloved, and too central to the show’s fabric to be left on the sidelines. It’s time for the writers to give Katie, Carter, and RJ the rich, fulfilling, and dramatic love stories they deserve. My heart, and I’m sure countless other fans’ hearts, are ready for it!
