Soap hopper Rebecca Budig has slipped into the skin of “world-renowned psychiatrist” Dr. Taylor Hayes mightly nicely on The Bold and the Beautiful — a bit ironic considering the path she almost chose.

In a recent sit down with Bachelor Nation’s Trista Sutter and Bob Guiney (who just so happens to be Budig’s ex-husband), hosts of the Almost Famous podcast, the actress shared: “I told my agency I can’t leave town. My husband has a full-time job. And I was like, I’m here. And as you know, nothing shoots in LA, so I’ve been basically doing nothing. Going to acting class, whatever. I was going to go back to school, study psychology, and finally get my degree. And then this show came along.”

And while furthering her education is on hold for now, Budig’s got an infectious “never say never” attitude. “I play a psychiatrist, and I’ve always gone to therapy for whatever, for years, and I’m interested in it, and I believe in it. I was going to go — I still might, actually, because I never got my degree, and I want it, so… I’ve gotta study something.”
