Today’s The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 13, 2023, details Ridge’s fight with his family to keep Eric alive.

Ridge Won’t Budge

Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) continued to argue that Eric (John McCook) would not want to suffer and since he had his father’s power of attorney, he was ready to pull the plug. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Donna (Jennifer Gareis) argued that Eric made his decision that he was ready to go before they knew there might be a cure.

Too bad that didn’t deter Ridge. He was going to do what he felt was right no matter how anyone else in the family felt. At least he was nice enough to allow Donna to have a few moments alone with Eric and say goodbye. How altruistic of him.

Goodbye And Then…Hope

In the hospital halls, Finn (Tanner Novlan) asked Ridge if he was sure he wanted to let Eric go. If he wasn’t, they needed to start the life-saving procedure immediately to give Eric his best chance at survival. Ridge still insisted that he’d made his decision and would have to live with it for the rest of his life.

Donna vowed not to give up on Eric and asked him not to give up either. They fought so hard to be together. He can’t give up now, not after she waited so long to be his partner again. Soon, Ridge walked in and told Donna it was time to pull the plug on the man she loved. (Where were Ridge’s siblings? Why didn’t he inform them of his decision?)

As Donna said her last goodbye, Steffy begged her father to change his mind, but he still refused to budge. At least Eric had a grand soiree and grand finale, right? That should count for something. Steffy then said her own tear-filled farewell to her Granddad.

Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) was the next person to say goodbye before Ridge sat down to tell his father he was going to give him what he asked for. As Finn readied to shut the machines, Eric suddenly tried to open his eyes.
