Today’s The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 20, 2023, details Eric’s sad plight, Ridge’s regrets, and Zende’s disappointment.

Eric Still Won’t Wake

Bridget (Ashley Jones) and Finn (Michael Easton) went over Eric’s (John McCook) vitals to try to figure out why he wasn’t waking up or if he’d even wake up. Bridget wondered if Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) was right and if they should have just let her father go. Bridget was in tears as she debated what they could do for Eric next.

When Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Donna (Jennifer Gareis) arrived and asked what would happen to Eric, Finn and Bridget didn’t have an answer for her. Soon, RJ (Joshua Hoffman), Ridge, and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) also arrived to lend them comfort and wonder the same thing Bridget was — did they do the right thing by agreeing to the procedure?

They were all alarmed when Eric crossed over to the other side, but at least he came back to them. That meant there had to be hope, right? After some tests, Finn and Bridget admitted there had been no change in Eric’s condition.

Ridge gave RJ some time alone with Eric where he talked about the bond they formed when designing. Still, that didn’t wake Eric up. Steffy was the next person who tearfully asked Eric to wake, but to no avail.

Zende Feels Slighted

Earlier, Ridge had to break the news to Zende (Delon De Metz) that yes, they would finish Eric’s collection, but Zende wouldn’t be Ridge’s right-hand man. RJ would. Zende insisted that RJ’s time would come, but this wasn’t it.

As for RJ, he was proud that his father chose him to work on Eric’s last grand finale and was so happy to have Luna (Lisa Yamada) by his side. Of course, the subject turned to Eric. He wanted more time with him and felt bad for the rest of his family who didn’t get to spend time with him near the end.

When Luna later told RJ that everyone left to see Eric in the hospital, he was shocked. He wanted to see his grandfather and was told to stay away. It dawned on Zende that he was somehow left out. He didn’t feel like he was a real part of the family at times.

Zende also lamented RJ finishing Eric’s line because he was not the chosen one, not Ridge Jr. Luna put her hand on Zende’s shoulders and told him that she understood.
