Today’s Days of Our Lives recap for December 21, 2023, details Holly’s sad and lonely birthday, as well as a jovial time at The Brady Pub.
Paulina’s Sick, Holly’s Drunk
While Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Paulina (Jackee Harry) walked through Horton Square, Chanel could still tell there was something wrong with her mother. When Paulina began to choke on water, Chanel insisted that they go to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Holly (Ashley Puzemis) sat alone at home on Christmas Eve, which was also her birthday. At least Johnny (Carson Boatman) found her and tried to cheer her up, but he needed to leave soon due to a date with Chanel. However, when Johnny heard it was his stepsister’s birthday, he promised her some cake before he left.
Holly didn’t want a pity party. She had plans with her mom the next day, but EJ (Daniel Feurriegel) needed to get her away for the night after she took the baby who was actually her own. Johnny refused to take no for an answer and set up a little celebration. Holly couldn’t wait to tell him she was now 17, which was the age of consent in their state. Clearly, Johnny needed to know that.
Too bad Holly’s tiny birthday bash came to an end when Chanel called. Paulina was in the hospital and Johnny felt he needed to be there with her. Holly was left alone again, so she decided to dig into the alcohol that was always out in the DiMera living room.
It’s not like anyone would ever know, right? Once she was sufficiently drunk, Holly composed some texts to Johnny to tell him she was in love with him but deleted them all before sending them. She then called Johnny instead. He could tell she wasn’t in her right mind and asked if she was drinking.
She admitted she was drunk, then chastised Johnny for leaving her alone to hold “Chanel’s clammy hand.” She then called him a big, fat jerk before hanging up and passing out cold on the couch. When Chanel heard what was going on, she sent her boyfriend home to take care of the lonely teenager.
The ‘Dead’ Ladies Celebrate A Healthy Holiday
Kate (Lauren Koslow) had The Brady Pub all ready for a Christmas Eve celebration with their closest friends, surprising Marlena (Deidre Hall) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) when they arrived. She made heavenly food like angel hair pasta and angel’s food cake to remember the start of their year as dead women walking (through the pearly gates).
As they got drunk on martinis, Kate suggested they get matching angel tattoos. They could be like Charlie’s Angels. At least their men soon showed up to tell them how hellish it was when they believed their wives for dead.
Because there is nothing better than self-deprecation, all three ladies had some quips to make about their strange Salem lives — including all the times they were presumed dead and/or possessed by the devil.
The men also shared some memories, as John (Drake Hogestyn) and Steve (Stephen Nichols) remembered when they first met and became friends. John was known as The Pawn at the time, with Steve being his first friend in Salem. Steve even played the harmonica to remind us of his entire Salem life going back to the 1980s.
They were all brought back to reality when Roman (Josh Taylor) broke the bad news that Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) had invited Konstantin (John Kapelos) to the Horton Christmas celebration.
