This week’s Days of Our Lives recap for January 1-5, 2024, details a heartbreaking start to the new year for Holly and Tate’s families and so much more.

Tate’s In Big Trouble

Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) panicked when he found Holly (Ashley Puzemis) seizing in the alley behind The Bistro, but called for help as quickly as he could. As Holly was rushed to the hospital, Tate was questioned by Rafe (Galen Gering) and the police. He told them the truth at first, but then Brady (Eric Martsolf) stepped in to claim the drugs were his.

Not wanting his father to go to jail, Tate then lied and said he gave Holly the drugs, thinking he’d make bail. He did but then a vengeful EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) had the bail revoked. He was devastated about what happened to his stepdaughter but refused to believe Holly did drugs. This had to be Tate’s fault and he was going to make him pay.

Holly’s In A Coma

It turned out that the pills that Holly thought were ADHD meds were laced with opioids, which caused her to seize and go into a coma. Nicole (Arianne Zucker) sat vigil at her daughter’s side throughout the week, but was relieved when Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) told her Holly had strong brain function. It was a waiting game to see how long Holly would remain in a coma.

At least Eric ( was there to comfort her as soon as he learned the news. As he ran to Nicole’s side, Sloan had to deal with Leo. He might have had his job back at The Spectator but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to max out more of her credit cards.

EJ Goes Mad

Despite mainly blaming Tate for what happened to Holly, EJ also knew his brother was to blame. He went straight to Stefan and told him he was aware that the drugs came through his restaurant, but all Stefan could do was blame EJ for not helping him with his Clyde problem.

Since Tripp was the one who initially treated Holly, he knew about the drugs at the Bistro and asked his mother if she had anything to do with it. As expected, Ava denied all.

Xander Has A Big Question

After their New Year’s Eve together taking care of Victoria and sharing a kiss, Xander was ready for more. To that end, he asked Sarah to move in with him. Xander was quite disappointed when Sarah told him she just wasn’t ready for that step just yet.
