Salem is about to explode with drama on Thursday, June 25, and I am absolutely living for what’s coming! After decades of watching Days of Our Lives, I can tell you that when the writers tease a ‘miracle’ for Holly Jonas, we’d better buckle up. Plus, Kristen DiMera reaching out to Xander Cook of all people? And Arianna Horton finally speaking her mind to her mother Gabi? This is the kind of multi-generational storytelling that keeps us glued to our screens!
Holly Jonas Faces Another Shocking Hospital Turn
Poor Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) has been through absolute hell, and if you’ve been watching since her mother Nicole’s journey to bring her into this world, you know this girl is a fighter. The spoilers indicate that Holly will be hoping for answers as things take yet another shocking turn at the hospital. Given everything this young woman has endured—from losing her father Daniel Jonas years ago to her recent struggles—my heart is breaking for her.
But here’s where it gets interesting, fellow DOOL fans! The mention of a ‘miracle’ has me wondering if we’re about to see some classic Salem medical magic. Remember when Marlena was possessed and still managed to survive? Or when Bo came back from the dead (sort of)? This show has a long history of pulling off the impossible, and I have a sneaking suspicion that Holly’s situation might connect to some experimental treatment or perhaps even a surprise donor situation.
Nicole Walker has already lost so much—we all remember the heartbreaking baby switch storyline and the years of thinking Holly was dead. If the writers put Nicole through losing her daughter again, I might have to write a strongly worded letter! But knowing Days of Our Lives, they’re setting us up for an emotional rollercoaster that will have us reaching for the tissues.
Kristen DiMera’s Emergency SOS to Xander Cook
Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) making an emergency request is never a good sign, but the fact that she’s turning to Xander Cook has me absolutely fascinated! These two have such a complicated history, and long-time viewers will remember their partnership in crime—literally. They’ve schemed together, double-crossed each other, and somehow maintained this twisted respect for one another.
What could possibly be so desperate that Kristen would reach out to Xander? My gut tells me this has everything to do with Rachel and Brady. Kristen’s love for her daughter is the one pure thing about her (and trust me, after watching her terrorize Salem for years, I never thought I’d say that!). Perhaps she needs Xander’s particular set of skills to help her maintain custody or protect Rachel from some threat.
Xander has been trying to walk the straight and narrow lately, especially with Sarah Horton in his life, but we all know that one phone call from Kristen could pull him back into the dark side. Stacy Haiduk plays Kristen with such delicious villainy—she’s come a long way from the original Eileen Davidson portrayal, but she’s made the role completely her own. I’m predicting that whatever Kristen asks of Xander will put him in an impossible position between his past and his future.
Arianna Horton Confronts Her Mother Gabi
Now THIS is the confrontation I’ve been waiting for! Arianna ‘Ari’ Horton (Vico Escorcia) ripping into her mother Gabi Hernandez is long overdue, and I am here for every second of it. Gabi has made some questionable choices over the years—okay, let’s be honest, she’s made some downright terrible decisions—and her daughter has witnessed far too much chaos.
For those who’ve followed Gabi’s journey from the beginning, we’ve seen her transform from a sweet young girl to a vengeful schemer. Remember the whole Nick Fallon situation? Or when she tried to keep Ari from Will? Or literally any of her recent schemes involving Stefan and Jake DiMera? This woman has put her daughter through the wringer, and Ari is finally old enough to call her out on it.
What I love about this storyline is that it’s showing the consequences of parents’ actions on their children—something Days of Our Lives has always done brilliantly. We saw it with Sami and her kids, with Victor and his sons, and now with Gabi and Arianna. The cycle of dysfunction is real in Salem, and I’m hoping this confrontation will be a wake-up call for Gabi.
What This All Means for Salem’s Future
These three storylines intersecting on one episode shows exactly why DOOL remains appointment television after all these years. We’ve got the medical drama with Holly, the criminal intrigue with Kristen and Xander, and the family conflict with Ari and Gabi. It’s the perfect blend of what makes soap operas so addictive!
I’m predicting that Holly’s ‘miracle’ will have ripple effects throughout Salem—possibly connecting to other ongoing storylines. Kristen’s request to Xander could set up a major summer storyline that brings back some fan-favorite characters (I’m always hoping for more Brady and Theresa scenes!). And Ari standing up to Gabi might finally force our girl to take a hard look in the mirror and make some changes.
Thursday, June 25 is shaping up to be an episode you absolutely cannot miss! Set those DVRs, cancel those plans, and prepare for the kind of drama that only Salem can deliver. After watching this show for decades, I can tell you that episodes like this remind me why I fell in love with Days of Our Lives in the first place.
