Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Sarah’s Endless Doubts About Holly Wear Thin
Oh, Salem, my sweet, dramatic home away from home! As someone who has clung to every single moment of Days of Our Lives since the very first episode, I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen babies swapped, people return from the dead more times than I can count, and love triangles that stretched for decades. But even my seasoned patience is being tested by the latest Days of Our Lives spoilers for the week of July 20, 2026. Because if I hear one more time that Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) is doubting Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) for ‘no reason,’ I might just throw my remote at the screen!
According to the latest intel, things are only going to worsen for poor Holly next week, and Sarah’s suspicions are at the heart of it. Folks, we just went through an entire saga of Holly being framed, nearly dying, and then having her entire world rocked by the truth about Sloan and Jude. Can we please, *please* give this girl a break? And more importantly, can we give Sarah a reality check?
Sarah’s Past Should Breed Empathy, Not Suspicion
Let’s talk about Sarah Horton for a minute. This is a woman who, not so long ago, went through one of the most traumatic experiences a mother can endure: a baby swap. She believed her daughter, Mackenzie, died, only to discover later that the child she was raising was actually Brady Black and Kristen DiMera’s daughter. The grief, the mental break, the struggle to put her life back together – it was heartbreaking to watch Linsey Godfrey play those scenes. You’d think such a profound experience would make Sarah the most empathetic, understanding person in Salem when it comes to a teenager who has faced trauma.
Instead, we’re seeing her constantly look at Holly with a side-eye, questioning her every move. What exactly is she seeing that we, the audience, aren’t? Is it just teenage moodiness after everything Holly’s been through? Or are the writers setting up a bigger reveal that Sarah is somehow privy to, and they’re just being incredibly coy about it?
Holly Jonas: A Child Who Has Suffered Enough
And then there’s Holly. My heart aches for this girl. She’s the daughter of Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker) and the late Daniel Jonas, and was essentially raised by Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan), who she adores. She’s a sweet kid, but her life has been a non-stop rollercoaster. From her mother’s endless love life dramas to her own near-fatal drug overdose (remember that terrifying period when she was presumed dead?), Holly has been through the wringer. Most recently, she had to endure the shocking truth that her beloved uncle Eric had another baby, Jude, and that baby was swapped with Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty) and her ex-husband, Xander Cook (Paul Telfer). Talk about a family tree needing some serious pruning!
After all that, after being wrongly accused and nearly losing everything, Holly deserves support, understanding, and a stable environment. Not the constant, nagging doubt from her step-sister’s wife. It feels like the show is using Sarah as an antagonist to Holly without giving us a good enough reason, and frankly, it’s exhausting to watch.
What’s the Real Game Plan, Days Writers?
This storyline feels like a placeholder, a way to create conflict without actually moving the needle forward. Is this meant to create a rift between Sarah and Xander? Xander has truly turned his life around, becoming a devoted husband to Sarah and a surprisingly good stepfather figure to Holly. He’s been fiercely protective of Holly, especially after the drug overdose and the subsequent framing. If Sarah continues to doubt Holly, it’s bound to cause serious tension with Xander, who has shown he genuinely cares for the teenager.
Could this also be a way to create drama between Sarah and Nicole, or even Eric? Nicole is a fierce mama bear, and if she senses Sarah is unfairly targeting her daughter, sparks are bound to fly. And Eric, who considers Holly his own, would certainly have something to say.
My hope, as a long-time fan, is that there’s a deeper layer to this. Perhaps Holly *is* struggling more than she lets on, and Sarah, despite her clumsy approach, is the only one seeing it. Or, even more intriguing, perhaps someone else is manipulating Holly, and Sarah is picking up on the subtle signs of outside influence. Maybe Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley) is back to her old tricks, or another familiar Salem troublemaker. Rex Brady (Kyle Lowder), as a doctor, could potentially offer a professional perspective if Holly’s behavior is genuinely concerning, rather than just Sarah’s gut feeling.
But if this is just Sarah being inexplicably suspicious for weeks on end, with no payoff or deeper meaning, then I’m afraid this veteran fan is going to need a very strong cup of coffee and a long talk with the writing team! Salem deserves better, and so do these characters.
