Today’s General Hospital recap for October 27, 2023, details Austin’s desperate move, Trina’s shock and horror, Laura’s ultimate sadness, and Elizabeth’s new Vermont skill.

Austin Wasn’t Going Down With Mason

General Hospital – Austin

Austin (Roger Howarth) kept a close watch on Mason’s (Nathanyael Grey) room but had no idea what was coming. TJ (Tajh Bellow) paid a visit to the patient and had to tell Mason he couldn’t get any more pain meds. When Mason lost it, got nasty, and screamed at him, it finally hit TJ how he knew the man. He was one of the people who held him hostage back in 2021.

TJ immediately ran to Jordan (Tanisha Harper) to tell his mom what he knew. It was Mason Gatlin who kidnapped him. Jordan was shocked because she knew that Cyrus (Jeff Kober) was behind everything. TJ wanted justice but Jordan had to sadly inform him that the fact that he was blindfolded and disoriented wouldn’t make him a good witness.

When Austin later entered Mason’s room, he told his cousin that he was certifiable. Mason acted like he didn’t have a care in the world and insisted he would rat out Austin to work out a plea deal. Austin assured him that wouldn’t help his case and he would pay for kidnapping Ava (Maura West). Mason told him they would one day share a prison cell.

So, Austin decided to take matters into his own hands and started to smother Mason with a pillow as TJ watched through the window. Uh-oh. Is Mason toast or will TJ rescue him?

Trina’s No-Good, Terrible Day

General Hospital – Trina

Trina (Tabyana Ali) was busy working when Cyrus walked in and threw Trina for a loop. As she tried to keep her distance from him, Cyrus explained that he was released from Pentonville and not going to hurt her. He was at the gallery to find art for his new apartment and claimed he was surprised to find Trina there.

Trina knew his arrival wasn’t an accident so she ordered him to leave. He said he would but he wanted to apologize to her first. He had found God and knew how wrong he was to hold her and Portia (Brook Kerr) hostage. As Trina yelled at him to leave, Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) heard her and was shocked to see Uncle Cyrus standing before him. Spencer had no idea Cyrus had even been released.

When Trina still demanded he leave, Cyrus asked Spencer to defend him and tell Trina that he really was a changed man. After all, he did everything to protect Spencer when they were both in Pentonville together. Yes, Spencer was grateful for his help, but found his actions in Trina and Portia’s house to be unforgivable.

Cyrus then spotted the turtle doves on Trina’s desk and talked about how he gave those to Spencer as a gift for Trina. But Trina didn’t want to talk about that. She didn’t even want to hear Cyrus recite bible verses. She just wanted him gone and warned him that if he came near her again, she’d call the police.

Laura And Alexis Catch Up, Esme Has An Ask

General Hospital – Esme

Laura (Genie Francis) stopped by to see Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and they both sang Esme’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) praises. After Esme left, she listened in as Laura thanked Alexis for keeping an eye on Esme when she was out of town. Esme was thrilled to hear more happy talk as they chatted about how cute Ace was.

The subject soon turned to Nikolas (Adam Huss). Laura told Alexis what she learned about him while she was in Europe, which wasn’t much. They just knew Nikolas was alive because he had just withdrawn money from a Swiss bank account. She knew her son was alive, but that he didn’t want to be found. Laura wanted him home so he could meet his new son.

Laura wondered if Nikolas would face criminal charges for keeping Esme hostage if he returned and Alexis thought that was up to Robert (Tristan Rogers).

After Laura left, Esme returned and asked for a raise. She was starting to have feelings for Spencer and felt she needed to move out of Laura’s place before things got more emotionally difficult.

Liz Taps Maple From A Tree

General Hospital – Elizabeth and Finn

Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) and Finn (Michael Easton) settled in at his friend’s Vermont cabin. When Finn found a hammer, Elizabeth wondered if they were going to catch vampires in the show’s clever attempt to remind us Michael Easton once played a PC vampire.

He then took Liz on a hike where he taught her to get maple from Vermont trees. Liz learned a new skill and was happy to now be able to make her own maple syrup. When they washed their hands, the soap brought them closer together till they kissed.
