This week’s General Hospital recap for January 15-19, 2024, details truths and secrets revealed — and an almost tragedy.

The Granny Wars Continue

When Nina (Cynthia Watros) heard that Sonny (Maurice Benard) might go to trial for beating Cyrus (Jeff Kober) the night he learned she was the SEC informant, she rushed to Cyrus’s hospital room and offered to get him a televangelist spot in exchange for dropping the charges. Cyrus agreed having no idea that Sonny had just changed his mind and ordered Dex (Evan Hofer) not to kill him.

Sonny told Nina to stay out of his business, which sent her on edge. But when she saw Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), she had to try and talk to her. Unfortunately, Carly (Laura Wright) interrupted and pushed Nina’s buttons as she loves to do. That prompted Nina to blurt out that Michael (Chad Duell) had known the SEC secret for months and was emotionally blackmailing her.

Willow took Nina aside and showed she has no capacity for grace when it comes to her own mother. Meanwhile, Carly and Drew (Cameron Mathison) headed straight for the Quartermaines where Drew chastised Michael and Carly forgave him in under one scene. The next day, Drew fired Nina from Crimson and installed diner owner Carly as editor-in-chief because of course.

Esme Freaks As Spencer Gives Ace Away

Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) was shocked to see Nikolas (Adam Huss) at Laura’s (Genie Francis) door but let him in and father and son shared some tender moments before making up. Nikolas begged Spencer to leave town with him but he refused to abandon Trina. However, he handed Ace over to Nikolas thinking he would be better off with him than an Esme with memories.

As for Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl), she was released from jail and sentenced to probation for breaking into Wyndemere. She was then stunned to hear that Spencer and Trina (Tabyana Ali) were moving to Paris. When she went to pick up Ace, Spencer revealed that Ace was gone and he knew Esme had her memories back.

A desperate Esme begged unlikely people for help finding her baby, including Cyrus and Ava (Maura West). When Laura heard what happened, she took Spencer to task for handing over a baby to a stranger no matter what he thought of Esm and her lack of amnesia.

Adam Tries Suicide

Josslyn (Eden McCoy) was alarmed when Adam (Joshua Benard) went missing but she finally tracked him down and found him drunk in the park. She also realized he’d taken pills and tried to kill himself. After he passed out, Joss rushed him to GH where Fin (Michael Easton) pumped his stomach and declared he would live.

The next day, Adam’s father arrived to take his son home, so Joss told him off and blamed him for what happened.
