Colin Cassidy is new to the General Hospital scene and he’s already pulling off some heavy material. He was tasked with Aiden coming out to his resurfaced father. The touching scenes (which you can view in the video above) hit viewers right in the heart, and the actor’s heart, too.

Colin Cassidy On Aiden’s Coming Out

For Cassidy, doing this story justice was a big component. “It’s a huge deal and an incredible moment,” the actor shares with Soap Opera Digest. “I did a lot of research, talked to friends about it, and looked up some videos on YouTube, and it’s never an easy feeling, even if you know that this person loves you and cares for you. You’re putting yourself out there in a way where you don’t really know how someone is going to react, and that’s a huge fear for a lot of people.”

Thankfully, Aiden didn’t get rejected by either parent. Liz (Rebecca Herbst) barely batted an eye and it was much the same for Lucky. “Aiden literally says, “I feel like I can breathe now.” And when I was asking around and hearing other people’s stories [of coming out to a loved one], that was the consensus: that it’s an incredible relief.”

A New Beginning for Aiden & Lucky?

Will this be a fresh start for father and son? It seems so! “I think with Aiden and Lucky, it does go as well as it possibly could. It’s kind of a new start to an amazing, beautiful relationship. And I think you’ll see in the following episodes that Aiden feels more comfortable with his dad. There’s a certain level of love there that’s different after [Lucky’s] acceptance.”
