Though he makes it look mighty easy, General Hospital’s Evan Hofer (Dex Heller) makes a study of his script every night before tape day — and he has help from a familiar, make that familial, face.

“I’ve run lines every night with my mom since I started acting when I was around 14,” he relays to Soap Opera Digest. “I run my lines with my mom every day and we have it down to a science.”

But what’s a boy to do if his mother/stand-in scene partner is ever indisposed? “I’m like, ‘What do I pay you for?” Hofer quips. “No, I don’t pay her. I do not do it by myself, however, so when she’s unavailable, I put my friends to work.”

Mom has also proved herself a dab hand at guessing the trajectory of the serpentine storylines: “[She] even sees points that I miss every now and then. She’ll be like, ‘Well, you know that this is this, right?’ And I’m like, ‘I did not know. But now I have to print it in [on my script] like I already did, yes.’”

Not bad for a woman who’s only been watching soaps for the past two years. Somewhere around the time, a certain someone landed a starring part in one. No points for guessing who that might very well be!
