Whether they’ll cop to it or not, jobbing actors have a preferred part (kind of like how parents insist there’s no favorite child when there most certainly is one), and James Patrick Stuart (Valentin Cassadine, General Hospital; ex-Will Cortland, All My Children) is no exception…except he has no problem proffering his best time on a set ever.

James Patrick Stuart’s Favorite Job

“Victor Fresco’s brilliant single-camera office comedy, “Andy Richter Controls the Universe” ran on the Fox network from 2001 – 2002,” began an Instagram post from Stuart accompanying a photo of the show’s cast.

“It starred Jonathan Slavin, Paget Brewster, Irene Malloy, Andy Richter, and me. It remains the most fun I’ve ever had while getting paid.”

Per IMDB, Andy Richter Controls the Universe concerned, “Short-story writer Andy (Richter) [who] makes his living by working at a huge faceless company in present-day Chicago, writing technical manuals. In his active, fertile writer’s imagination, we see (and hear as he narrates) the stories of his daily life, as they should be, could be, might be–and even actually how they are. Andy shares his office with the company’s newest employee, and Andy’s newest friend, the frail, jumpy, odd, lovable Byron (Jonathan Slavic).

“Also inhabiting Andy’s world is his best friend Keith (Stuart), who is “so good-looking” that Andy must fight his own “prejudice against the ‘attractive,’ who seem to get everything they want, unlike ordinary humans.” Supervisor Jessica (Paget Brewster) is also Andy’s longtime friend and uses her lightning-sharp tongue to keep the group out of trouble–or, at times, to get them INTO trouble. The newer receptionist Wendy (Irene Molloy), whom Andy first had a crush on, is dating Keith, which somewhat proves Andy’s “Attractive Theory.”
