When True Love Dies – We Felt General Hospital’s Jason Morgan’s Emotional Goodbye to Sam McCall In Our Soul

So many of us spent years sitting and watching the love story between Jason Morgan and Sam McCall bloom. We watched their makeups, their breakups, their shakeups, and their too-many-to-count romantic moments. They showed every General Hospital fan that true love exists, even if you can’t be with your soulmate.

We had already used up half a box of tissues watching Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) mourn her daughter. (Read about that here) We did not expect to need that other half when Jason (Steve Burton) walked into Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) room to spend a few moments alone.

The End Of An Era

Watching the reality that Sam is truly gone hit Jason in the heart nearly tore ours part. She may have just said yes to marrying Dante, but that never stopped Jason from still loving her. Or her from loving him. They shared so much of their lives together and that doesn’t simply go away.

He replayed the moment they first met, protecting her, falling in love with her, and being all the romance they shared. There was a time when he and Sam were each other’s whole worlds. From their wedding to tragedies to the moments that brought them back to each other, she is engrained into his soul and will be forever.

Sam wasn’t the only woman Jason has ever loved, but she’s the one who he never got over…and now, maybe never will. She’s the woman he will never forget. Neither will we. This is truly the end of an era and the final moments of one of soap’s greatest supercouples.

We’re sure like many of you, we were also hoping for a JaSam reunion when it was announced Steve Burton was bringing Jason home. We do have to wonder what will happen next with Jason now that all hope of that is gone. Will he ever find love like this again?
