This week in the world of soaps has been rocky for many of the cast members. There have been some ups and downs and some familiar faces too. In fact, there are now two actresses returning to soaps and fans are extremely happy about that. There is some good news for General Hospital and a baby was brought into the world this week. Let’s discover all of the news from this past week on the soaps and just what to expect for what is next.
Surprises in Genoa City
One big surprise on The Young and the Restless is that Hayley Erin is coming back to the show. She played Abby Newman from 2008 to 2010, but this is not the role that she is coming back to play. She will star as a new character who will be working for Newman Media. Not only is she coming back to the show, but Veronica Redd, who played Mamie Johnson is coming back too. Redd is a legend in her own right from the show and fans couldn’t be happier to see her. In fact, there are a lot of questions surrounding her return. What will she be doing in Genoa City? Will her return mean more drama and secrets?
On Days Of Our Lives, another legend has returned. Dick Van Dyke has come onto the show to play John Doe. He has been searching for his identity, but when John finds out who he is, he is unsure if he should have told him. John uncovered a horrible past for John Doe and this really shook things up for the week. Fans were excited to see Van Dyke and would like to see more of him.
On the Bold and the Beautiful, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood had her fourth child with her husband, Elan Ruspoli. Chad Duell from General Hospital also welcomed a child. He and his girlfriend, Luana Lucci had their first child together and he couldn’t be more excited about being a father.
The Sadness in the News This Week
There have been a lot of happy moments in the world of the soaps this week, but there was a tragedy as well. Arleen Sorkin, from Days of Our Lives, passed away at the age of 67 years old. She made her debut on the soap in 1984 as Calliope Jones. Her character was a fashion designer with flare. She also had a sense of humor that made viewers love her character even more. On shows like Days of Our Lives, there is very little room for humor, but she really did bring it to the show. Viewers felt that her character was very quirky and they really enjoyed the show when Calliope Jones was around. The world of soaps was saddened by her loss.
With all of the news in the soaps this week, the coming weeks have fans very excited. There are going to be some major changes headed our way. There are rumors that viewers are let down by some of the storylines on The Young and the Restless. It turns out that the new additions of familiar faces could change things and hopefully, the show will gain the momentum that it once had.
Stay tuned next week for new episodes and new drama.
