The Young and the Restless has always had its fair share of corporate drama and this time, it’s Billy who’s in the thick of it. Jason Thompson sat down for an interview recently and gave his take on what’s up with his character and why Billy-Boy is pushing his agenda so hard at Chancellor-Winters.

Jason Thompson Shares His Perspective

Billy is on a mission to tack on his last name to the company’s label and he’s not backing down. Adding to this is Jill’s (Jess Walton) declining health, which, of course, Billy is using to further his cause. He can’t do it alone, though, not with Devon (Bryton James) pushing back, so he’s turned to Lily (Christel Khalil) in hopes of gaining an ally.

So far, Lily has more or less stayed neutral. She enjoys working with Billy, but Devon is family. But, those days are over. Billy wants her to choose and is working harder than ever to sway her to his side. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Jason Thompson gave the scoop on this front-burner story.

“The relationship between Lily and Devon is incredibly important. They’re brother and sister, and they’ve been through a lot, so there’s a ton of their history there, plus there’s Katherine’s history, and there’s Neil’s history. Wrapped up in all that is Jill, her legacy, and what she did for the company when it was Chancellor Industries.

So we come in with all those things and we end up butting heads for a lot of reasons and Lily is in a little bit of a tough spot there.” He told the publication. “I also think that Billy is learning that he’s better with a partner than he is on his own and she’s the force to keep him on the straight and narrow to a certain extent, but also give him a little bit of leash”

That all said, it sounds like Lily may soon dive right into Billy’s questionable plot. He does manage to convince Lily they need to be a team right now, but she’s not going to turns against her family for nothing. “Billy is optimistic that Lily is going to join him and he gets excited about it,” Jason Thompson admits. “But, there’s a little bit of a catch or somewhat of an ultimatum from her that could stop everything in its tracks.” Will this put a damper on Billy’s grand plans?

One thing is for sure, Billy is all about his honoring his mother. Regarding this, Thompson added, “I believe that he really is doing this for his mother’s legacy. And there’s one thing about Billy, if he thinks that it’s the right thing to do, he goes for it and that’s where he finds himself right now, including with Lily.“
