When The Young and the Restless brought back Daniel Romalotti and then his dad Danny, we had high hopes for the two characters, but those hopes have recently been dashed because of their poor choices when it comes to the various women in their lives.
Daniel Is Naive
How glorious was it to watch Michael Graziadei and Christel Khalil revive their old chemistry from their days as teenage Daniel and Lily as two adults who have raised children and lived a lifetime since they were first married all those years ago?
We thought we finally had ‘Daily’ as a couple again, but for some reason, Daniel thought Heather’s (Vail Bloom) return to GC and constant presence in his life was an innocent co-parenting arrangement. Surely, she couldn’t want him back.
Why would he even think such a thing? Could it be her always popping up when least expected? Perhaps it was that kiss she planted on him to ring in the new year. When Heather told Daniel she was falling back in love with him, he looked absolutely dumbfounded, but let’s now look at who raised this man.

But Danny Is Pretty Dumb
We finally understand what went wrong in Danny (Michael Damian) and Christine’s (Lauralee Bell) marriage all those years ago when both Danny and Michael Damian were in New York to star in Broadway’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. We didn’t really see the build-up to what happened between Danny and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) way back in the 1990s, but from the way Danny is acting in 2024, it looks like he’s always been a fool for Phyllis.
Apparently, nothing has changed in 30 years as he allows the woman who passed another man’s kid off as his for years to completely manipulate him in the most obvious way. Yes, Phyllis really was sitting in the Neil Winters Jazz Lounge in her underwear and a bathrobe literally disrobing herself in front of Danny while he looked on in confusion.
It took until he saw her social media post of him playing the song he claims she inspired for him to realize what she was doing. Because he is dumb. Weeks ago, he pulled away from Phyllis’s kisses and reminded himself he couldn’t screw up another chance with Christine, but, of course he has.
When Lily returns from tending to her daughter (and Khalil returns from her maternity leave), she needs to leave Daniel in the dust. As for Christine? She needs to go scorched earth on both Danny and Phyllis and then run far, far away from this man who will never be worthy of her love.
