Friday’s edition of The Young and the Restless had many Genoa City residents plotting their next move. Kyle faces an important decision after recent changes in his life. Meanwhile, Phyllis rethinks her partnership with Tucker after receiving another offer. Here’s a recap of the Sept. 22, 2023 episode.
Kyle’s Future Looks Uncertain
At the Abbott mansion, Kyle is leaving for the office when Diane remarks on his casual attire. Kyle says he’s going to clear out his office because Nikki fired him. Diane is sorry to hear the news and wonders if the firing had something to do with Audra. Kyle doesn’t want to get into it, and Diane agrees not to push the topic. The two discuss Kyle’s future, and he contemplates taking time off before starting a new job. He jokes about being a surfer dude, but Diane says he needs direction and suggests he come back to Jabot. Kyle says the only way he’ll return is if he replaces Billy as co-CEO, but he knows that’s not happening. Diane smirks and says it might be a possibility.
Later Jack returns and comments on Kyle’s clothing choice. Diane tells him about Kyle being fired, then warns him not to push the subject. Jack asks Kyle if he’ll come back to Jabot, and Kyle says that depends if he’s ready to appoint him co-CEO. Jack doesn’t give a definitive answer and Kyle considers that a brush-off. After Kyle leaves, Diane says she may have given him false hope about Jabot. She then suggests to Jack it’d be a good idea to have their son onboard at the company.
Kyle arrives at GCAC and sees Audra. He sits down to talk with her and pleads for another chance. Audra says their relationship is over, and it has nothing to do with Nikki. She says what they had was a fling and nothing else. She mentions that the woman of his dreams is and always will be Summer.
Phyllis Receives Another Offer
At Chancellor Park, Phyllis runs into Jack, who gives her the cold shoulder. He blasts her for destroying Summer and Kyle’s marriage, and Jack says his and Phyllis’ friendship is over too. She tells Jack she’s sorry, but promises she’s working on bettering herself, but Jack’s skeptical. Jack says he said goodbye at Phyllis’ memorial, and she’s still dead to him. Daniel arrives in time to hear Jack’s parting comments and comforts his mother. Phyllis says she deserves it, then says it’s a struggle returning to normal life with everyone judging her. Daniel reminds her that her death scheme didn’t help matters, and suggests a job will keep her mind off things. She mentions things with SNA Media fell through, and Daniel offers her a position at Omega Sphere. Daniel says Phyllis is the best person for the job and she’ll have money to repay the insurance company. Phyllis is touched by the offer but says she needs to think about it. Later she texts Tucker.
Billy Becomes Suspicious
At Society, Billy joins Adam and begins sweet-talking him. Adam tells Billy to cut to the chase, and Billy wants to know what information Adam has on Tucker. The two agree Tucker is an egomaniac with a temper, but Adam refuses to help Billy. Adam says he’s made a vow to change and he’s keeping it, but Billy’s skeptical. The men start bickering and an exasperated Billy leaves. On his way out he passes Tucker, who asks about Billy’s text. Billy replies he must be mistaken.
Billy later arrives at GCAC clubs and bumps into Phyllis. Tucker comes in at that exact moment and greets them before heading upstairs. Phyllis then goes to the bar and waits until Billy leaves before following Tucker. Billy watches from the window as Phyllis goes up to Tucker’s room. Phyllis meets with Tucker and reminds him of their deal. She wants one-million dollars upfront before she hacks into Billy’s records.
