General Hospital fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Steve Burton as Jason Morgan, a character he has played off and on (and mostly on) since 1995 after debuting as Jason Quartermaine in 1991. As longtime fans know, Jason Q morphed into Jason M after a car accident that left him brain-damaged with no memories and a new personality.
Steve Burton Is Ready For His Comeback
Burton confirmed his return two weeks ago on The Daily Drama Podcast after appearing at the end of the GH primetime special, General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling. As soon as Jason walked through a door onto a smoke-filled platform surrounded by Laura Wright (Carly) and Kelly Monaco (Sam), we knew that Jason would rise from the ashes — or in this case, the rubble — once again.
While Burton does not have a specific start date yet, he believes it will be in the next few weeks, leading to an educated guess as to when Jason will appear on screen.
“We can do some creative, fuzzy-ish math,” Burton said at the end of the latest Daily Drama Podcast episode. “I don’t know how far ahead GH is right now, but I can guess in my experience in life that it could be 3-4 weeks,” he said. “But if I start in a couple of weeks, and we add four weeks to that, we’re going to have an estimated guess.”
Jason Mentions Are Coming Soon
While Jason is still allegedly buried beneath the rubble on Cassadine Island, his trusty tech sidekick Spinelli is alive and well and living with Maxie once again. In fact, Bradford Anderson is back on set this month filming more scenes and Jason is on the brain.
“I noticed in my script that I do tomorrow, your name comes up,” Anderson mentioned to Burton on the podcast. “And I thought ok, that’s great, I love talking about you,” before adding, “I think it’s just reminding the audience which characters have connections [to Jason]…making it fresher in everybody’s mind again.”
As fans know, once a past character gets frequent mentions out of the blue, their return is usually imminent. That means Carly’s life is about to be turned upside down once again, but what about Elizabeth and Sam? Stay tuned and keep reading Daily Drama to find out.
