Real life is, most unfortunately, intimating the reel. Like her The Bold and the Beautiful alter-ego before her, actress Heather Tom is bidding her mother a final farewell.
Heather Tom Pens Loving Tribute
In an Instagram post edited late Monday night, Tom shared with her fans a number of photos of her late mother, Marie Tom, and a heartfelt missive.
“At 12:20 am Sunday morning, my brother, David, my sister, Nicholle, and her all but adopted son, Michael, held my beautiful mother’s hand, kissed her face and whispered I love you as she passed from this world to the next,” began Tom’s tribute, which you can read in full below. “She was my biggest champion and my most important influence.”
Of the biggest life lessons that Marie taught Tom, perhaps the most important was that, “Hardship wasn’t something to fear- it was just another adventure. Dream big, take risks.” And the biggest adventure the group (consisting of Marie and brood of three) embarked upon? Packing up their belongings and heading to Los Angeles.
“For our sake, she became a single mother. For our sake, she risked her security, however unhappy it was, and her risk was our reward.
“I will miss her everyday, but when I look into my son’s eyes I’ll see her looking back at me, because his eyes are hers,” said Tom as her eulogy wrapped. “I am so grateful to have had my hand on her heart when she took her last breath, and I will feel her hand on my heart until I take mine. I love you, mama. Enjoy your peace. You deserve it.”

The comments section of the post was immediately flooded by messages of condolence from friends, family, fans, and a plethora of Tom’s costars past (from her days toiling on The Young and the Restless) and present.
Lauralee Bell (Christine Blair, Y&R) wrote, “I have so many clear memories of your mom standing beside you at the Emmys, on the set and at parties! You were such a team. Both happy and proud to be with one another! I’m so sorry for your loss! She will always be right by your side! Sending love,” while John McCook (Eric Forrester, B&B) offered, “May these memories always be her blessings to you…”
