The announcement that many Days of our Lives fans have anxiously anticipated is finally being made — Kristian Alfonso IS returning for the very special episodes that will honor Doug Williams and his portrayer, the late, great Bill Hayes.
Kristian Alfonso Coming Back To DAYS
“My return is very bittersweet because it is the end of an era with Bill gone,” granted the actress while talking to TVInsider. “So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”
Alfonso, who described her working relationship with the “very loving, very welcoming” Hayes as being like “home” bemoaned the fact that she didn’t get to share scenes with him during her last reprisal, reflecting, “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron [Carlivati, head writer] had planned. It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”
Instead, the plot was truncated and reworked to feature Hope’s beloved Bo (Peter Reckell), presumed dead but resuscitated and brainwashed via mad science, shot and rendered comatose moments after breaking through his murderous conditioning.
No doubt seeking to head off the fans who’ll almost certainly be clamoring for Bo’s return a proper reunion between the Brady Boy and his Fancy Face, Alfonso offered, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.”
As for whether or not this return will prove her final swan song, Alfonso mused: “I feel incredibly grateful that I ever had the opportunity to be a part of such an incredible show and the legacy that it holds. I’m very blessed. I’ll always be very blessed, regardless if I ever return to do more shows or finish the storyline or not. I will always be eternally grateful and so appreciative to Days of our Lives and to Ken Corday [executive producer] and the fans that kept me going.”
Though Alfonso was reportedly back on the set on Monday, April 22, due to DAYS’ accelerated filming schedule her return won’t be featured until December.
