The soap world was rocked just over a month ago when the truth broke of Days of our Lives superstar Drake Hogestyn passing away. The heartbreaking tragedy shook up everyone who knew him, loved him, and watched him for decades.

Days of our Lives Remembers Drake Hogestyn

At the end of today’s show (October 29th), DAYS paid tribute to Hogestyn by dedicating the episode to his memory. During the show, Steve (Stephen Nichols) visited Marlena (Deidre Hall) to share the good news that John is not a killer. Catharina is still very much alive…and the mother of Mark and Cat (Marin? Abgial? Whatever she’s calling herself now). Marlena wasted no time getting on the phone with her fella and spreading the joy.

Sadly, we will not get to see John’s reaction. The show confirmed shortly after Hogestyn’s death that they have already aired his final scenes. He took a step back from the set during his battle with cancer and didn’t get the chance to close up this story arc.

Throughout his time on the show, Hogestyn garnered a massive fandom who couldn’t get enough of John Black. He’s played a baddie, a goodie, a lover, and a fighter. John and Marlena’s romance is one for the record books and they became one of the biggest couples in the soapverse as a whole. His presence is already missed by viewers. Salem will never be the same without him.
