Anita Joy, Johnny Wactor’s (ex-Brando Corbin, General Hospital) friend of eight years and fellow toiler at downtown LA hotspot Level 8, is detailing the late actor’s last moments on earth.

Anita Joy On Johnny Wactor’s Last Heroic Act

“I’ve needed to take some time to collect myself and my thoughts,” began Joy’s thorough and heartfelt Instagram post. “I was with Johnny in his last moments and I’m here to be his voice after such unimaginable events. His story is in this post as it happened, please swipe through the top photos and read it.”

Joy’s story recalls Wactor approaching the men tampering with his vehicle and “simply stating that it was his car and for them to leave. Hands open to his sides in peace. Johnny was between me and the man who shot him.”

The two “toppled onto the street” where Joy’s bellows for assistance finally attracted the attention of “one of our security guards from work.” The two fashioned a makeshift tourniquet from her denim jacket and the security guard, whom she identified as Bryan, attempted CPR. “It was too close range, too extreme of a wound for him to survive it, but my god, he fought to stay.”

Joy wrote in the caption accompanying her statement: “Johnny had this incredible ability that was truly just his genuine nature – to make anyone and everyone feel so special in his eyes…Just one look into his big blue eyes, followed by a big goofy grin, Johnny made you love him instantly. Absolutely one of the best men I’ve ever known. I’m so grateful to have been a part of his world and him, mine.

“My heart is shattered with his loss but I believe l have gained the best guardian Angel out there. I love you Johnny Wacky.”

A plethora of Wactor’s industry family flocked to the comments including Kelly Thiebaud (ex-Britt Westbourne, GH) who wrote: “Anita, thank you for sharing what happened in those unspeakable moments. I’m so sorry you are going through what I can only imagine is the absolute worst pain. I’m so grateful he had you to hold him in his last moments. Johnny and I worked together and although we never hung out outside of work, he always made me feel so happy and good when I was around him. This is such a tragedy and loss for us all. So senseless. Something you said really resonated with me, they were trying to steal a car part but all they took was my friend’s life… absolutely devastating. Sending you love and so much healing.”

Added Toja Walker (ex-Olivia St. John, GH; ex-Alex Olanov, One Life to Live) in part: “It’s unreal how another human being could be so heartless and cavalier as to take a young man’s life who was posing no threat to him whatsoever. I know it won’t bring Johnny back but I desperately hope and pray that this murdering thief [is] caught and pays dearly for the pain he has caused and the for the precious promising life he stole. Johnny was in his prime and this is an unspeakable nightmare.”
