Today’s General Hospital recap for December 14, 2023, details Monica’s triumphant return to our screens, Kristina giving her dad some news, and Carly being a busybody with Ava.
Monica’s Back Where She Belongs
Fans rejoiced as Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) appeared back on our screens for the first time in well over a year. We’ve heard her voice on the phone, but now we had her presence as well. When Tracy (Jane Elliot) arrived in her office, it was like Christmas and our birthdays all rolled into one.
Tracy and Monica had a job to do as members of the hospital board and they were determined to get it done. The board wanted a recommendation — should they go to trial or settle with the family in Finn’s (Michael Easton) malpractice suit? If the hospital settled, Finn would be on his own as a defendant.
As Finn relayed his story to Monica, he still claimed he did nothing wrong as a doctor. He stood by his treatment in this case even if the hospital did not. Later in the day, Tracy took Finn aside and told him she planned to recommend that the hospital not settle and back Finn.
The lawsuit also stressed out Nurse Amy (Risa Dorken). She worked with Finn on Mr. Muldoon’s case and was asked to give a deposition. She asked Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) what to say, so Liz told her to just tell the truth. That should help, right? Hmmm….
Kristina’s Big News
Kristina (Kate Mansi) joined Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Donna for dinner at the Metro Court. Poor Donna was over being a little sister, so she wanted to know when Sonny and Nina (Cynthia Watros) were going to have a baby. Sonny explained that he and Nina were quite satisfied with the kids they already had. There would be NO baby and Donna had to accept that.
When Sonny sent Donna away for a kitchen tour, Sonny encouraged his daughter to have some more fun in life and not be such a workaholic. Kristina finally worked up the nerve to tell her father she planned to be a surrogate.
Sonny didn’t seem to have the same issues everyone else was having with this idea. He just wondered where it left her relationship with Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez).
Sonny might not have been too bothered by Kristina being Molly’s (Kristen Vaganos) surrogate, but others were still hesitant.
TJ (Tajh Bellow) stopped by Stella’s (Vernee Watson) office to ask if she ever regretted not having children of her own. Stella assured her nephew that she didn’t and loved being an auntie. TJ wondered if Kristina would feel the same. He explained that Kristina was going to be their surrogate, which thrilled Stella.
Too bad TJ was worried about having to count on Kristina, but Stella couldn’t see Kristina flaking out on them.
Gregory (Gregory Harrison) and Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) met up for a meal at Port Charles’ latest fancy restaurant. Gregory was happy to report that Chase and Brook Lynn were getting married, so Alexis had news of her own to share. Kristina was going to be Molly’s surrogate. She wasn’t sure it was the best idea, but she was going to be supportive.
Carly Needs To Know It All
Carly (Laura Wright) dropped Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola) off at Ava’s (Maura West) as a favor, but Carly couldn’t just quickly leave. She had some nosy questions to ask first. Ava seemed awfully nervous and Carly wanted to know what it was. Ava brushed her off and said she was stressed from being so busy.
Carly didn’t buy it. She wanted Ava to talk about the fact that her semi-boyfriend Austin (Rooger Howarth) had just been murdered. Ava admitted she was affected by Austin’s death, but was trying to put it out of her mind. It’s not like she was in love with Austin. They were just casually dating.
When Carly asked if the police questioned her, Ava lied and immediately said there’d be no reason to talk to her. It’s not like she killed Austin. Ava finally got sick of the questions and told Carly she didn’t have to answer to her. Carly thought it was her business because she was like a second mother to Avery.
