General Hospital spoilers for for January 9, 2024, promise another heartbreaking day for Carly as she deals with the loss of her mother.

Carly And Sonny Share A Moment

Both Carly’s (Laura Wright) and Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) new year didn’t go quite as planned. Carly got the tragic news that Bobbie had died in her sleep while Sonny learned Nina (Cynthia Watros) was the one who tipped off the SEC that Drew (Cameron Mathison) and Carly committed a crime and indulged in insider trading.

As a result, Sonny took his anger out on Cyrus (Jeff Kober) and was arrested while Nina confessed her impulsive and petty move to Carly at Sonny’s behest. Now, Sonny knows what happened to Bobbie and wants to be there by Carly’s side as a friend.

Carly may be in tears but is happy to see her ex and get the comfort she needs. They share some special moments as friends, showing the audience they will always have a connection even if ’till death do us part’ is not meant to be.

Laura Keeps Her Promise

Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) does as Laura (Genie Francis) asks and turns herself in for breaking into Wyndemere, but conveniently leaves out the part about having her memories back. So, she doesn’t turn herself in for making revenge porn of Cameron and Josslyn’s first time together and setting up Trina (Tabyana Ali) to take the fall.

Laura does her part and accompanies the lying young woman to the PCPD because she is determined to make sure that Esme gets off easy — as if she hasn’t gotten off easy with everything she’s ever done for a year now.

As for Trina, she has a heartfelt talk with Stella (Vernee Watson) and makes a big confession.

About Last Night

Now that Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Gregory (Gregory Harrison) have come down from their high — as well as the sky — after their New Year’s Eve skydiving adventure, they need to discuss the resulting passionate kiss.

Alexis and Gregory had always thought of one another as friends and Gregory might want to keep it that way, considering that he is dying of a fatal disease that some last-minute bone marrow won’t cure. Will Alexis decide she is ready to be with a man who won’t be with her much longer?
