Michael Easton’s latest exit from General Hospital took fans by shock. In a matter of weeks, Finn drank himself into a dark hole after the death of Gregory (Gregory Harrison) and was whisked off to rehab to get clean. Now, the actor is speaking out and sharing his thoughts on the storyline.
Michael Easton’s Take
The actor recently shared what he would have liked to see for his alter-ego during an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “I understand their circumstances and why they had to do that with the timing they did.” He told the publication. “I would like to have had it happen a little more slowly and been able to play some of the things with addiction that [happen] where you’re angry with people and resentful that they’re trying to help you.”
He went on to share how hard this storyline was to reconcile in his deal. “Finn was not a cheater, he was never going to leave his daughter — all those things were very hard for me to reckon with.” As for Finn and Liz, Easton wanted more. “I would love to have had Finn and Elizabeth, even if it was emotional, volatile, bittersweet, I would love for them to have had it out.”
The hardest goodbye, understandably, was bidding adieu to his TV daughter. Those tear-jerking scenes were hard for both Michael Easton and Jophielle Love. “They were very difficult scenes. Jophielle couldn’t even rehearse them because the finality of all of it was pretty overwhelming.”
What about life after General Hospital? Easton is hopeful for his future in the business. “I’m not done,” he relayed. “I think I have more to give as an actor. But I think of it much the same — I’m just traveling up the coast and I’m looking for that right part.”
