Kamar de los Reyes, the popular actor who played Antonio Vega on One Life to Live off and on for nearly 20 years has passed away at the age of 56.
Kamar de los Reyes’s Long Career
According to The Hollywood Reporter, de los Reyes died after a short battle with cancer on Christmas Eve. The actor originated the role of Antonio on OLTL in 1995, the eldest son in the newly-introduced Vega family, headed by Dorian’s longtime maid Carlotta (Patricia Mauceri). de los Reyes played Antonio until 1998, returned to the soap in 2000, and remained a part of the Llanview scene until 2013 when OLTL left the airwaves.
However, the actor was known for more than just soaps. He also appeared in a host of movies and television shows, such as Oliver Stone’s Nixon and Love and Suicide. de los Reyes was also well known for voicing the part of Raul Menendez in various Call of Duty video games, including Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Call of Duty: Vanguard. Most recently, de los Reyes portrayed a detective in the TV show The Rookie, as well as a high school football coach in All American. He is also slated to appear in Hulu’s upcoming Washington Black. Kamar de los Reyes Was A Family Man
The son of famous Cuban musician Walfredo de los Reyes, the actor was the youngest of three boys and one of five siblings, de los Reyes was born on November 8, 1967, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but spent his formative years growing up in Las Vegas.
De Los Reyes was married to fellow soap actress Sherri Saum, who appeared on Sunset Beach before landing a role on OLTL where she played de los Reyes’s love interest. He is survived by Saum, their three sons, bothers Walfredo and Daniel and sisters, Lily and Idle.
