The Young and the Restless recap for December 13, 2023, details Michael’s decision about Claire, Nikki’s drinking, and Daniel’s cluelessness.

Saving Claire

Nate (Sean Dominic) and Devon (Bryton James) sat down to discuss business over coffee at Crimson Lights. When Victoria (Amelia Heinle) walked in, things got awkward as she tried to avoid Nate’s gaze. When Nate left, he said a quick goodbye that Cole (J. Eddie Peck) noticed from afar.

When Victoria and Cole caught up with one another, he told her that he went back to the Oregon lake house and it was like reliving a nightmare. Victoria was still reeling with the idea that Claire (Hayley Erin) could be the baby they thought they lost while Cole vowed to get her the help she needed no matter who she turned out to be.

Victoria agreed, so Cole suggested they find a way to connect with her. Cole seemed to blame himself for her upbringing because it was his aunt who brainwashed Claire and poisoned her mind. Victoria wondered if the hole in her heart after Eve ‘died’ never healed because she never lost her daughter at all.

Soon, Michael (Christian Le Blanc) walked in to tell them about his meeting with Claire. It turned out Michael believed her story and felt sorry for her. He felt she needed psychiatric care and was willing to take her case.

Nikki’s Desperation

Audra (Zuleyka Silver) was happy to see Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) return to the office. She still thought that Nikki had a seizure in Oregon, but Nikki informed her she was wrong before explaining what really happened while announcing she never wanted to talk about Claire again.

As Audra went over business, a distracted Nikki could only think about being locked in the lake house bedroom with booze. When Audra finally got her attention, Nikki vowed not to let Jordan and Claire win. She would battle back from the ordeal no matter what.

When Audra left to bring back lunch, Nikki immediately went into her purse and took a swig of vodka from a flask. After Audra returned, Nikki claimed she was tired and needed to go home. When she got to the ranch, Nikki made sure Victor (Eric Braeden) before she continued her drinking spree before Victoria started calling her name.

Heather Gets Good News

Heather (Vail Bloom) told Daniel (Michael Graziadei) her move into her own place was coming along nicely, so Daniel told Heather that Lily (Christel Khalil) was out of town on an extended visit with her daughter. Heather put on a smile and feigned sympathy for Mattie’s ordeal, but she seemed secretly pleased that Lily would be gone for a while.

Daniel once again thanked her for being so supportive after the way he treated Heather and Lucy when they were living in Georgia. Heather was impressed with how Daniel turned his life around and wanted to put that time behind them.

The former couple decided to have some lunch so they made their way to Society. They ran into Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon, who could easily tell that Heather still wanted Lily’s boyfriend.
