It’s been nearly two months since The Bold and the Beautiful fans have seen Liam Spencer, which is a shock in and unto itself considering how the character is typically prominently featured each week. What has Liam been up to during this time that he seemed to finally leave both Steffy and Hope alone?
Why Is Xander Really Back In LA?
Isn’t it strange how Xander Avant (Adain Bradley), a peripheral character nobody has thought about in ages, suddenly appeared back on the B&B scene to end 2023? Even Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) noted that it all seems a little too coincidental. Could she be onto something?
Xander was only a part of the Forrester Creations team for a little over a year when he was fired and banished from town. Maya Avant’s (Karla Mosley) cousin fell for young intern Emma Barber (Nia Sioux), but then seemed to choose his ex-girlfriend Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes) over sweet Emma.
He even kept Zoe’s dirty little secret that her father, Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady), took Hope (Annika Noelle) and Liam’s (Scott Clifton) newborn daughter, switched her with a dead infant, and then sold her to Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo) so that Steffy could adopt a sibling for Kelly. He knew about the baby switch for months and didn’t say a word to anyone to protect Zoe’s dad from a life behind bars.
Eventually, the secret came out, Xander lost his job, and Reese lost his freedom. Steffy, Hope, and the rest of the people involved with this scandalous time didn’t give Xander another thought until he showed up in Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) office looking for a new PCP and a physical.
He even explained to Finn that he had a regular doctor when he lived in LA before but didn’t explain why he wanted a change and why he came to a man who is a hospital surgeon who performs experimental procedures and not a family practitioner. Then, without much prompting, insisted that Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) was a cold-blooded killer when he could have done that nearly five years ago when Emma first died.
Is Liam Pulling Xander’s Strings?
When we last saw Liam, he looked as if he was about to lose his mind. Hope told him she was with Thomas now, he made her happy, and her life wasn’t his business anymore at all. He then watched through the window as Hope and Thomas kissed, resulting in his eyes rolling back into his head as she seemed to completely switch to villain mode.
We didn’t spot Liam again until last week when he continued to whine about Steffy and Hope over some breadsticks and pizza with Bill (Don Diamont). He didn’t talk much about what he had been doing, but what if he decided to stir up some trouble and contact Xander?
Liam knew that there was no love loss between Xander and Thomas and he would probably love to ruin Thomas’s life nearly five years after the Baby Beth ordeal that helped lead to Emma’s death. Bringing Xander back to stir up trouble would get Liam everything that keeps him going.
Sometimes it seems like Liam would stop breathing if he couldn’t waffle back and forth between Hope and Steffy. But, for the first time in well over a decade, neither woman wants him and both want anyone but him.
Bringing Xander back to accuse Thomas of murder using Finn as a conduit could make everything right in Liam’s little world. He knows this will cause trouble for both Steffy and Finn and Thomas and Hope, leaving two doors wide open for him to just walk right back in. It would be just like Liam and make Xander’s return make a whole lot more sense…
