Today’s The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 14, 2023, details Ridge’s big decision and Eric’s big procedure.
A Hail Mary For Eric?
As Eric (John McCook) tried to open his eyes, Donna (Jennifer Gareis), Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) begged Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) not to allow Finn (Tanner Novlan) to turn off the machines. Finally, Ridge gave in and told Finn to do the procedure. Finn immediately began prepping the OR as Ridge quietly asked for Eric’s forgiveness.
Soon, Bridget (Ashley Jones) and Thorne (Winsor Harmon) arrived so a nurse could tell them they planned to give Eric comfort care. At least once they found the family, they heard the latest. As expected, Thorne was incensed that Ridge was going to take their father off life support without even telling him.
As Thorne pointed out, Eric gave Ridge power of medical attorney thinking he couldn’t be cured. Surely, if he knew there was a treatment he wouldn’t have wanted that. Ridge still thought he did the wrong thing. If Eric was still hooked up to machines after the procedure, Ridge would blame himself.
Thorne countered what the entire fandom has been thinking — Ridge was going to do this without even telling their other siblings that their dad was sick. What gave him that moral right? Ridge was unbothered. He still thought he was doing the right thing when he asked Finn to end Eric’s life.
In the OR, Bridget and Finn scrubbed in despite this being a major conflict of interest working on a close family member. At least everything was going smoothly — until Eric started hemorrhaging.
Worrying About Eric
Back at Forrester Creations, RJ (Joshua Hoffman) told Luna (Lisa Yamada) and Poppy (Romy Park) all about how amazing his grandfather was. He broke down crying when he remembered how sweet and funny Eric could be. RJ pulled himself together when he learned Thorne and Bridget were heading to the hospital.
Luna and Poppy suggested that RJ head there himself, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. It soon seemed that RJ and Luna’s purpose was to tout how wonderful Eric was in every single way. It was like a little tribute by characters who barely even knew him. Poppy couldn’t wait to meet him one day.
