Today’s The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 8, 2023, details the grand finale of Eric’s grand soiree.
Eric’s Emotional Goodbyes
Eric (John McCook) couldn’t understand why his family insisted he sit down at his grand soiree. After all, as far as Eric knows, they are unaware that he is sick and dying. He was touched that everyone was there as Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) nearly revealed the truth. Instead, she just gave a touching speech about Eric being their leader.
Steffy later feared that Eric might have caught onto the fact that they all knew and were faking their smiles for his sake.
Thorne (Winsor Harmon) and Bridget (Ashley Jones) were especially moved because they didn’t get to see their dad every day. Eric spent some time alone with them and with Carter, whom he considered to be another son. It was hard for Carter to keep it together.
When Eric had some words with Donna (Jennifer Gareis) and Katie (Heather Tom), he admitted this was more emotional than he thought it would be. He also thought it was as if everyone knew about his illness when that couldn’t be the case.
Eric told the Logan sisters he was planning on keeping this a secret for as long as he could, just as another coughing fit came on. Of course, everyone stared, but Eric didn’t notice. He just wanted a glass of champagne, so Donna obliged.
Tender Moments, Big Reveal
As Donna poured the champagne, she heard Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) telling Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) that it was amazing that his dad got Eric to believe he had won the fashion challenge when Ridge actually came out on top. Donna was floored and warned Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), Ridge, and Thomas that Eric could never know.
Donna rightly pointed out that Eric would be mortified if he ever found out the truth. She worried for Eric’s mental health as well as his physical health. Brooke just wanted it known that Ridge did a beautiful thing for Eric.
Meanwhile, Eric made the rounds some more and had sweet words with Zende (Delon De Metz), RJ (Joshua Hoffman), and Luna (Lisa Yamada).
Eric’s next stop was Thomas and Hope. He saw great things in Thomas’s future while thinking Hope was aptly named. She was a wonderful reminder that people should never lose Hope as they go through life. Hope agreed that one must always have hope, even in the darkest of times.
An Even Bigger Reveal…And A Collapse
Finally, Eric gave a speech and praised Ridge for his design skills. However, he pointed out that he won the fashion challenge. It’s too bad Ridge’s face gave away the game. Eric suddenly realized Ridge had lied to him. In fact, everyone was lying to him.
As it dawned on Eric that his family knew everything, he turned to Ridge and told him lying about the challenge was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for him. Just then, Eric collapsed and told Donna it was his time before closing his eyes.
Back at the hospital, Finn (Tanner Novlan) couldn’t put his laptop away. Li (Naomi Matsuda) kept telling him to go to Eric’s party, but he couldn’t do it. There was too much to learn by looking at Eric’s medical records. Hopefully, all this research pays off because it looked like Eric was down for the count.
