The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 28, 2023, details a romantic and surprising day for Thomas and Hope — amid a whole lot of unexpected trouble.
Concerned Forresters
After Finn (Tanner Novlan) barreled into the design office to tell Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) to stop squabbling with his wife, Thomas quickly told his brother-in-law that their argument had nothing to do with him. He just wanted Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) to back off and stop interfering in his relationship with Hope (Annika Noelle).
Steffy told Finn she was just fine, so he went back to work so Steffy and Thomas could resume their sibling spat. Thomas asked Steffy to reserve all the care and concern that she felt for him and use it for Eric (John McCook), who had a long recovery ahead of him.
Thomas assured Steffy that things were fine. He felt he earned this happiness and just wanted Steffy’s support. Things were going well in their lives, he was in love, and just didn’t want anyone to undermine his relationship.
In Eric’s office, Hope got the third degree from Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), although he was much nicer about it than Steffy and much less demanding. Hope assured Ridge that he, Brooke, and Steffy had nothing to worry about when it came to Thomas. So, Ridge got blunt and pointedly asked her if she saw a future with his son.
Ridge understood that they were living in the moment but wanted to know what came next. Hope wondered why loving being together wasn’t enough. Ridge seemed to want a guarantee that Hope saw a future with Thomas, but she couldn’t give him that.
She thought she had a future with Liam (Scott Clifton), and look how that turned out. She couldn’t predict the future. In the end, she told Ridge that all of this was between her and Thomas and nobody else.
After Hope left, Steffy arrived so father and daughter could express their concerns for each other — and they were VERY concerned.
Finn’s Big Surprise Patient
When Finn got back to work, he met with his new patient, Xander Avant (Adain Bradley), a man who had some problems with Thomas back in 2019. Xander explained that he’d just moved back to LA from London and needed a new doctor. He didn’t mention that Ridge banished him for keeping the Baby Beth secret.
However, he was stunned when he saw a wedding picture of Steffy and Finn. Xander explained that he was once an intern at Forrester and brought up Thomas’s name. He flashed back to the accident with Emma and Thomas’s role in it.
At that point, he wasn’t sure if Xander should be his doctor. Finn questioned him so Xander blurted out that Thomas wasn’t who Finn thought he was. After flashing back to the night Emma died, Xander told Finn that Thomas killed Emma.
Thomas’s Even Bigger Surprise
When Hope and Thomas regrouped in the design office, they discussed the third degree from his family members. They knew nobody understood their relationship, but they did and that was all that counted. Hope admitted that she hoped Ridge would ask Steffy to back off, but she also understood where they were coming from. They loved him and were worried.
Thomas went on to tell Hope that she’s made him a better man and a better father. Hope didn’t want to cause tension between Thomas and his family, but all Thomas could think about was being with Hope and how close they were. He was grateful to her for putting her faith in him. He was a one-woman man and the woman for him was Hope.
Suddenly, Thomas got down on one knee and pulled out a ring. All Hope could do was smile in complete and utter shock.
