Today’s Days of Our Lives recap for December 27, 2023, details Ava’s horrible Christmas.
Ava Tells A Big Lie
When Harris (Steve Burton) found Ava (Tamara Braun) and Stefan (Brandon Barash) in the alleyway behind The Salem Bistro, they quickly covered for themselves with a flimsy excuse as to why they were there. Harris explained he got a tip that there was drug activity going on there so he planned to investigate.
When Stefan went inside, Harris informed Ava that he knew they were lying. However, he didn’t think she was lying about anything illegal. Instead, he believed she was now involved with Stefan. Ava could barely believe her ears when Harris point-blank asked if she was in love with Stefan of all people.
Still, she figured this was as good a lie as any and told Harris she was seeing Stefan, but they hadn’t said the word ‘love’ yet. Harris thought he finally understood why Ava really broke things off with him over a drunken kiss with Stephanie (Abigail Klein).
Harris later put Stefan on warning about hurting Ava. Stefan was especially confused when Harris reminded him that he had a wife because he had no idea that Ava told the cop that they were now dating.
More Bad News For Ava
Wendy (Victoria Grace) and Tripp (Lucas Adams) spent some time relaxing on a park bench where Wendy remained torn about whether to please her parents and move back to China. She didn’t want to go but she loved her family and they felt all alone after Li’s (Remington Hoffman) death.
Tripp didn’t know why they couldn’t come to Salem and stay for a while, but Wendy insisted it wasn’t that simple. They wanted their only living child in the same country and Wendy understood. That didn’t make it any easier on her. She couldn’t imagine leaving Tripp behind.
After Tripp walked away for a bit, Melinda (Tina Huang) happened by. Although Wendy was reluctant to talk to her, she at least listened to what Melinda had to say. Yes, she was using Li at first but she grew to care for him and was also grieving her death.
The two women ended up having a chat and realized they had similar strict Chinese upbringings. Wendy finally asked Melinda for some advice. Should she stay in Salem with a young man she loved or move home and be there for her parents?
In the end, Wendy chose love and so did Tripp, as they later told Ava that they were both soon moving to China.
A New Start For Holly And Tate
Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) sat around at home alone thinking about Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and was surprised when she suddenly showed up at his door. After some small talk, she quickly apologized for using him to make Johnny (Carson Boatman) jealous when she knew he liked her.
She ended up explaining her drunken escapades in the DiMera living room, then waking up to realize she never stood a chance with Johnny and was just fooling herself. She now knows that Tate gave her good advice to just forget about Johnny.
Holly admitted that she finally sees what’s been right in front of her all along — Tate, a boy who like her and would care for her. She wanted a second chance with him but didn’t feel she deserved it. Well, Tate felt that she did so he gave her a first-edition copy of Pride and Prejudice he found on eBay.
Holly then got the guts to ask Tate out, so the two teens made a date for New Year’s Eve.
