Though Days of our Lives’ Paulina is currently recovering nicely following angelic intervention, a reprieve wasn’t necessarily a guarantee.
Jackée Harry On Paulina’s Crisis
As Jackée Harry quipped to Soap Opera Digest, “I thought I was being fired. But there’s dead on soap operas, and then there’s dead dead. I figured [my character] wouldn’t be dead dead.” Perish the thought!
Luckily, she got some reassurance that Paulina would live to sass another day. Harry then says that she turned her attention to her main concern, namely getting Paulina and amnesia-stricken Abe (James Reynolds) back together — and that, of course, was the real crux of the story. Paulina and Abe’s abiding love.
As for the most challenging aspect of her recent storyline: “That it’s based on a truth, like thyroid [problems]. A lot of women have it, and they have to get [their thyroid] removed. It can turn into cancer. It can turn into something that’s a lifelong issue, which I did not know. So, I didn’t want to make light of it. I wanted to try and bear it for what it is, but [relaying] that you can survive. Having this kind of illness breeds anxiety in a lot of people. I thought about that and wanted to make sure it was treated right and delicately.”
