Today’s Days of Our Lives recap for December 5, 2023, details Nicole’s continuing heartache, Dimitri’s deal, and Harris’s confusion.
The Hospital Screws Up Big Time
Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) was a panicked mess as she tried to stop Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Eric (Greg Vaughan) from viewing the DNA test results on the baby she claimed she and Eric had legally adopted. Eric told her he had the results in his hands, so it looked as if Sloan was out of luck.
Nicole couldn’t wait to open the envelope and prove the baby was hers, but sadly, it did nothing of the sort. It just proved the baby didn’t belong to EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) because the hospital used his DNA as the sample. Sadly for Nicole, the results showed no match. Also sadly for Nicole, EJ’s DNA was used and Nicole still thinks EJ is her baby’s father.
The lab couldn’t get enough DNA from Nicole’s toothbrush so it used EJ’s DNA, which was already on file. Somehow, it didn’t occur to anyone that in baby-switching/DNA-switching Salem EJ might not be the father of Nicole’s baby.
A devastated Nicole headed home where EJ told her that he let Leo go and Dimitri was now in custody. Nicole didn’t even care because she didn’t believe they killed her baby. She also didn’t care about revenge. She just wanted her baby back.
When Sloan and Eric arrived home with the baby Nicole gave birth to, Sloan took Eric to task for having the DNA test run. Eric wondered if his “depraved baby-snatcher” wife was hiding something, but she played innocent as always.
That led Eric to apologize, so Sloan accepted it before they finally gave this baby a name. Nicole’s son would now be known as Jude.
Dimitri Tells Leo The Truth
EJ was surprised when Dimitri (Peter Porte) actually showed up at the Salem PD to turn himself in and free Leo (Greg Rikaart). However, EJ had no intention of sticking to his end of the bargain. Instead, he was going to keep both men detained and would find the charges to do it.
Dimitri made a good argument for just prosecuting him and not Leo, so EJ eventually relented and the men exchanged places. Dimitri was detained and Leo was set free. They even had a few minutes alone together where Leo got to hear all about Jackie Cox’s visit.
Leo felt bad that Dimitri was about to spend some time behind bars but Leo made sure they could have conjugal visits. Leo still feared EJ would find a way to charge them with killing the baby, so Dimitri dropped a bomb — the baby was not dead.
Ava’s Big Problems
Rafe (Galen Gering) surprised Harris (Steve Burton) when he told him drugs were missing from the evidence room. He actually realized this had something to do with Harris’s keys going missing, which was impressive for Rafe. He even wondered if someone had stolen them. Harris felt guilty but Rafe was just happy they had Dimitri in custody.
Stefan (Brandon Barash) startled Ava (Tamara Braun) as she sat alone in the restaurant. She was sure someone was after her, but Stefan only wanted to tell her about his latest plans to get out from under Clyde’s (James Read) thumb. Stefan intended to have Clyde killed.
Ava was stunned that Stefan was that ruthless and reminded him that Jake was not. Stefan insisted he was nothing like his brother. In fact, Stefan had someone on the inside to do the job — his mother’s henchman, valet, and all-around loyal servant Ivan (Ivan G’vera).
Too bad Ava didn’t like the idea. She thought it was too risky, especially considering Clyde’s network full of goons both in and out of Statesville. Ava just wanted to keep making Clyde happy by doing his dirty work, but Stefan believed he would just want more from them.
Neither one of them came to a firm decision on what to do about Clyde when Harris walked in. Stefan couldn’t wait to tell him he just bought the bistro and was Ava’s new boss. After Stefan left, Harris told her about the missing evidence so she feigned shock. After Ava got Harris to drop the subject, they decided it was time for their first date.
