Today’s Days of Our Lives recap for November 21, 2023, details Nicole’s struggle to go on after ‘losing’ her baby, Melinda’s determination to alieve Sloan’s guilt, and Ava’s latest legal troubles.
Nicole’s Deep Grief
Poor Nicole (Arianne Zucker) was inconsolable as she lay in her hospital bed. EJ (Daniel Feurriegel) did his best to be a support for her but she didn’t want to hear anything he had to say. All she could think about was the loss of her baby. When Holly (Ashley Puzemis) arrived with a pizza, she refused to eat and finally lashed out.
She didn’t want all these smiles and cheer because she was grieving. Holly and EJ finally left her alone to cry, which is what she needed more than a pizza. EJ was just as broken up as his wife and was relieved when Chad (Billy Flynn) stopped by the hospital to act as his support system.
EJ was broken up inside as well. He had no idea how to help Nicole, but Chad insisted she needed time. During the first few days he was mourning Abby (Marci Miller) he was so deep in his grief that all he wanted was to be left alone.
Nicole could barely even look at Eric (Greg Vaughan) when he walked into her room, but she asked him not to go. Since Eric was a man of God, she needed him to tell her why this happened. Why would God take another child from her? As Eric held Nicole, EJ walked in and tried to be understanding that Eric was there.
Johnny (Carson Boatman) was thrilled when Chanel (Raven Bowens) arrived back in Salem and headed straight to see him at the DiMera mansion. Apparently, they didn’t keep in touch through text because Chanel had no details about EJ and Nicole’s wedding and no idea that their baby had ‘died’. She was shocked when Johnny broke the news.
After Chanel left, a tearful Holly stopped by shaken up by her mom snapping at her. Johnny was there to listen and be the good big step brother but Chanel soon returned and realized that Holly had a crush on her boyfriend. When she relayed that information to Johnny, he seemed surprised.
Sloan’s Deep Guilt
Melinda (Tina Huang) did her best to get Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) to stop feeling guilty about stealing Nicole’s child and keeping it as her own. When Eric nearly overheard her on the phone talking about causing devastation, she quickly hung up and feigned excitement over the impending arrival of their adoptive son.
Eric brought back lots of baby supplies but wanted to go check on Nicole before setting up the crib. Sloan was alarmed when she learned that news but kept her cool and didn’t talk him out of it.
While Eric did what he needed to, Sloan slipped out to the hotel room where Melinda was holed up with Nicole’s baby. Melinda was excited about making Sloan and Eric parents. She was able to steal a baby for her buddy and that’s what friends are for, right?
Harris Finds Another Dead Body
Harris (Steve Burton) was stunned when he barged into Ava’s (Tamara Braun) apartment and found her with a gun pointed at Gil’s (David A. Lee) bloody dead body splayed across the kitchen table. Ava was in a state of shock but managed to explain that he showed up at her door to ostensibly talk about work, but he started coming on to her and nearly raped her before she got a hold of his gun and fired.
Harris admitted he knew there was something off about Gil the moment he met him but Ava seemed to like him so he didn’t trust his instincts. He had no choice but to bring her down to the Salem PD where she worried she’d be put behind bars again. Harris assured her she shot Gil in self-defense and everything would be ok.
Ava was shocked to hear that Harris did a background check on Gil and learned he had criminal ties. He was convinced this would help Ava’s case. Just as Ava was starting to calm down, Clyde (James Read) called from Statesville to give her a warning.
