‘Sprina’ fans, brace yourself! It appears that Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s temporary break from General Hospital has been recast as a permanent exit.
Nicholas Alexander Chavez Not Reprising His Role
Though there has been no official announcement made by GH, TVLine is reporting that multiple sources have confirmed that Chavez will not be reprising his role on the ABC sudser as previously promised.
Spencer Cassadine’s plunge into the drink earlier this year paved the way for the younger actor to accept a starring role in the second season of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix anthology Monster.
Following the announcement of Chavez’s casting, a GH spokesperson declared, “We support Nicholas’s endeavors and look forward to having him return to General Hospital once this project is wrapped.”
In season 2 of Monster — officially titled Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story — Chavez plays Lyle Menéndez opposite Cooper Koch’s Erik.
His tenure at GH spanned from July 1, 2021, to January 31, 2024. In 2022 he snagged the Outstanding Younger Performer statuette at the Daytime Emmys.
