There was much celebration amongst soap fans when The Gates was officially ordered to series on April 15. Now comes an update from creator Michele Val Jean.

The Gates, a joint venture of CBS Studios and the NAACP, along with Procter & Gamble Studios, was first announced as in contention for the Eye Network on March 6, 2024. Nine days later, George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS and chief content officer for news and sports at Paramount+, relayed that the soap opera was in “accelerated development.” It is currently on schedule for a January 2025 debut.
Per its official logline, “The Gates follows the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community.”
