This week’s The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 26-28, 2023, features a big surprise for Finn and an even bigger surprise for Hope. It might have been a short week for the LA fashion crew, but it was definitely life-changing.
Ridge Worries For Eric
Eric (John McCook) was awake, breathing on his own, and recovering, but somehow this wasn’t good enough for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye). He needed to lament his worries to Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and then sounded completely ridiculous when he turned to Finn for answers.
Would Eric be exactly as he was before? He was sure his father wouldn’t want to live a compromised life and still felt he might have made a mistake by allowing Finn (Tanner Novlan) and Bridget (Ashley Jones) to perform the procedure. If his dad couldn’t play piano and design like he used to, then what was the point? Amazingly, Finn didn’t scream in his face that the point was to give Eric more years with his loved ones even if he couldn’t play piano with speed.
Instead, Finn told him he couldn’t with certainty predict the future, but Eric’s recovery was going as it should and they all needed to be patient.
Steffy Doesn’t Mind Her Business
While Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) concern for her brother was understandable, she still managed to tick Hope (Annika Noelle) and Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) off (as well as many fans) when she nastily demanded that Hope tell her whether or not she loved Thomas — right in front of Thomas. She continued to insist that Hope would never love Thomas and was just using him.
Thomas finally asked Hope to leave the design office so he could speak to his sister privately. He told her that she needed to mind her own business and that Hope hadn’t quite said she loved him, but he knew how she felt. He even brought up the time Hope told him she loved him ‘for that’ right in front of Liam (Scott Clifton).
Steffy still didn’t buy it, resulting in a loud argument. When Finn overheard them in the hallway he came barreling in to defend his wife, but they both told him they could handle things on their own, so he exited stage left.
Meanwhile, Hope and Ridge had a chat in Eric’s office where he asked her the same questions as Steffy, but just in a much nicer and more respectful way. He was also concerned about Thomas’s mental health and wondered if Hope saw a future with Thomas.
Hope admitted she didn’t know what would happen with her life for sure because, at this time last year, she thought she would still be married to Laim. When Ridge brought up Thomas keeping the truth about Beth from Hope back in 2019, Hope admitted that she had to put that in the past so she could have joy in her life now.
Thomas Stuns Hope
When Hope made her way back to the design office, she and Thomas discussed his meddling family. Hope confessed that she brought the argument with Steffy up with Ridge because she hoped Ridge could get Steffy to back off, but instead, he also put her in the hot seat.
They agreed that what they had was between them and it didn’t matter if nobody else understood it because they did. Thomas then declared his love for Hope once again. When he said he could feel her love, she didn’t deny it, but was stunned when Thomas suddenly got down on one knee.
He whipped out a stunning engagement ring and asked Hope to marry him. All she could do was stare in disbelief because this proposal seemed to come out of nowhere.
Xander Shocks Finn
Meanwhile, when Finn returned to work, he met with his new patient, Xander Avant (Adain Bradley). Xander was back in town from London and looking for a new doctor for annual checkups. However, he became alarmed when he saw a wedding photo of Steffy and Finn and realized his new doctor was married to Thomas’s sister.
Xander couldn’t believe that Finn didn’t know anything about a young Forrester intern who was killed in a car crash. After calling Thomas evil, he also claimed he murdered Emma Barber (Nia Sioux). That plot point has been left vague for several years.
Thomas was behind Emma that night truing to stop her from telling the truth about Beth, but she was texting and driving, which is what caused her crash. However, Thomas saw what happened and left her for dead. Several people already aware of this, but now Finn is also now in the know and that can cause some big problems for Thope.
