Today’s Days of Our Lives recap for December 29, 2023, details an eventful and frightening New Year’s Eve in Salem.
Getting Ready For A Party
Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) walked through Horton Square ready for their New Year’s Eve date. Chanel felt guilty leaving Paulina (Jackee Harry) alone worrying that she might have cancer, but Johnny assured her that her mother was a fighter and she would beat it.
Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) and Theresa (Emily O’Brien) strolled through the park ready for the big NYE party. They soon ran into Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Tate (Jamie Martin Mann), who was heading over to pick up Holly for the evening. He left his parents and Alex alone, so they kindly invited him to the party so he wouldn’t be alone to ring in the new year.
After some hemming and hawing, Brady finally agreed to join them.
Leo (Greg Rikaart) stopped Chad (Billy Flynn) as he exited The Brady Pub and had a proposal. He wanted his job back as the Lady Whistleblower columnist, and since Chad was the new owner of The Spectator, he figured he’d make his pitch.
Chad told him he would have to make his pitch to Everett (Blake Berris) instead, who was busy getting ready to spend NYE with Stephanie (Abigail Klein). If Everett was ok with it, Chad would hire him back, but wanted to sign off on everything that Leo wrote.
Holly (Ashley Puzemis) quickly hid some pills she scored when Nicole (Arianne Zucker) came to check on her. Nicole just wanted to help her daughter get ready for her big date. Nicole was feeling better after therapy and wanted to focus on being there for Holly.
They finally picked out a dress in time for Tate to pick Holly up. Tate was impressed with Holly’s final look and couldn’t believe how lucky he was. She even had a 2 AM curfew because it was New Year’s so she was allowed to stay out past midnight. Holly even planted a kiss on Tate and promised him there would be more as the clock struck 12.
Ava (Tamara Braun) and Stefan (Brandon Barash) were proud of the restaurant work, but not proud of their drug dealing. Stefan was worried that they were running laced drugs through the Bistro as they had no idea where the shipments were coming from and where they were going.
Party Time
Everyone finally arrived at the Bistro hoping for a good time. Stephanie introduced Everett around while Alex asked Brady if she could help Theresa with her job at Bella. Brady tried to do just that, but all it did was insult Theresa. She told him she was confident she could handle things on her own.
Ava informed Stefan they needed to fake an affair for Harris’s sake, so they looked like a couple as they worked the room making sure everyone was having a good time. They were all impressed when a magician seemed to arrive, who turned out to be Leo.
Leo couldn’t wait to gather the gossip now that he thought he could write his column again. He finally approached Everett and offered to become Lady Whistleblower again. Everett wasn’t quite sure what to say. After some pushing, Everett finally agreed, but he had to have legit sources for his gossip.
Everett and Stephanie then left and rang in the New Year with a kiss in the Square — that Chad witnessed.
When Holly and Tate got there, she showed him the pills, but he balked at taking any. When Theresa happened along, Holly quickly put the pills away. When they were alone again, Tate explained that his parents were both recovering addicts, so he knew better and didn’t do hard drugs.
Holly told him they were just some ADHD meds, but Tate still wouldn’t touch them. It wasn’t like marijuana, a plant that wasn’t physically addictive. So, Holly went to the ladies room to take them on her own. Sadly, when Tate found her behind the restaurant, she was passed out and seemed to have had a seizure.
‘Xarah’ Fear For Victoria
It was Xander’s (Paul Telfer) turn to have Victoria on New Year’s Eve, but Sarah (Linsey stopped by anyway just to give her baby a kiss. When she bent down to do so, she noticed the sleeping infant was warm and became alarmed when she realized she had an elevated temperature.
Sarah chastised Xander for not having an infant acetaminophen on hand. Xander ran out to get some as Victoria stayed calm. When he returned, he gave her the meds and Sarah decided to stay. When the baby’s fever dropped they put her to bed and kissed as they rang in 2024 together.
