This week’s Days of Our Lives recap for January 8-12, 2024, details an emotional week in Salem as Holly fights for her life and Tate fights for his freedom.
From Bad To Worse For Holly And Tate
Holly (Ashley Puzemis) remained in a coma and Nicole (Arianne Zucker) resolved herself to a waiting game. Would Holly wake up? Would she ever be the same again? Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) was there to help support her and see her precious granddaughter, but EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) finally convinced Nicole to go home, rest, and change.
Meanwhile, EJ also saw to it that Tate’s (Jamie Martin Mann) bail was revoked and he was remanded to Statesville. Brady (Eric Martsolf) and Theresa (Emily O’Brien) were beside themselves worried about their teenage son, which caused Brady to miss a visit with Rachel (Finley Rose Slater). Surprisingly, Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) was understanding when she heard what was going on with Tate.
When Brady and Theresa visited Tate and saw he was assaulted, Brady tried to play on Nicole’s good senses. He visited her at the DiMera mansion to convince her to get EJ to change his mind about how he was treating Tate. However, when he alluded to the idea that the drugs really were Holly’s and not Tate’s, she became incensed and ordered Brady to leave.
Once alone with EJ, Nicole wondered if Brady could be right, but EJ put that idea out of her mind. Instead, he got her to scream and let out her pain and frustration over everything that’s happened to her since November.
Back at the Salem PD, Brady, Theresa, Alex (Robert Scott Wilson), and Justin (Wally Kurth) argued over Tate’s representation. Alex even fired Justin for a bit until some lawyer friends of his admitted that Justin was doing all he could for Theresa’s son.
Sloan’s A Hot Mess
Sloan’s (Jessica Serfaty) guilt ate away at her some more as she thought about what happened to Holly. Still, Melinda (Tina Huang) was not deterred when Sloan pointed out that the only living child Nicole thought she had might die. She wanted to give Jude back right away.
Of course, Melinda balked at the idea, reminding her of the kind of trouble they would be in if the truth ever came out. Sloan also mentioned that she needed more money to take care of Leo’s (Greg Rikaart) spending habits as he was blackmailing her.
Can Lucas Help?
As Harris (Steve Burton) continued his investigation into Salem’s new drug ring, he learned that someone inside Statesville was behind it all, but he needed more proof. To that end, he asked Roman (Josh Taylor) and Kate (Lauren Koslow) what they thought about using Lucas (Bryan R. Dattilo) as an informant. In exchange, Lucas would be released from prison early.
Kate then brought Harris to Statesville to have a talk with Lucas. Despite being warned of the danger, he agreed to help. After all, if this worked he could be free to be with his children and grandchildren again.
Paulina Battles On
As Paulina (Jackee Harry) prepared for Salem’s Martin Luther King celebration, she tried to once again ignore her own health issues. Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Abe (James Reynolds) tried to be voices of reason with her but she insisted on working anyway.
She met with Chad (Billy Flynn) and Everett (Blake Berris) to do an interview about the event, but could not stop coughing, alarming the two younger men. When they left, they admitted they were concerned about the mayor. Once alone in her office, Paulina learned her biopsy results were ready.
