Today’s General Hospital recap for December 20, 2023, details Vanna’s breakup, Aiden’s bravery, Spinelli’s new home, and much more.
Goodbye To Love
Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) showed up at Anna’s (Finola Hughes) hotel room door to talk. They were cordial to one another as she asked how Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) was, but the conversation soon turned emotional. Valentin still regretted keeping the truth from Anna, but she admitted she also needed to tell him the truth.
She told him all about catching Brennan (Charles Mesure), Forsyth’s death, and the botched op from the 80s. She claimed it was over now but Valentin wondered if she was right. Anna was sure she was no longer in danger. Still, she asked Valentin to keep his distance, but he admitted that never stopped him before.
The two nearly kissed but Anna backed away. Being together with the secrets out in the open made it so easy for Anna to feel their connection again, but she knew she had to resist. She kept seeing what happened to Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) and knew they couldn’t go forward.
They admitted they still loved one another, but his responsibility was Charlotte and not Anna. She insisted she could no longer be part of his family. Instead, they said a tearful goodbye filled with love, but we knew Vanna would be together again one day.
Charlotte freaked out when Valentin had to leave on Christmas Eve. He left her in Laura’s (Genie Francis) and Kevin’s (Jon Lindstrom) care but that didn’t matter. Papa had promised they’d be together this year after he spent last holiday season on the run with Anna.
When Charlotte was alone in her room, she looked at the scar on her abdomen and declared it to be her first battle wound. She also put on a necklace with the Cassadine crest and said, “Anything for family.” Kevin asked about the necklace and she told him it belonged to Helena.
Later, Kevin admitted to Laura that she heard her talking to herself and calling her wound a battle wound. Needless to say, Laura and Kevin were both alarmed.
Aiden Comes Out To Elizabeth
As Aiden (Enzo Deangelis) baked, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) welcomed Violet (Jophielle Love) and Finn (Michael Easton) for Christmas Eve, but Violet was a little forlorn. It was like her light had dimmed. While Finn tried to figure out what was wrong with his daughter, Liz and Aiden bonded over cookie dough.
That’s when Liz learned that there was someone Aiden was interested in. He told Liz they were in his science class and they got to talking about the science involved with baking. Aiden also revealed this person’s name was Tobias.
In the living room, Jake (Hudson West) got the truth out of Violet. She thought Finn was going to jail but Finn explained the lawsuit wasn’t a criminal case and he’d be fine.
Maxie’s New Tenant
Maxie (Kirsten Storms) told Felicia (Kristina Wagner) she was having a hard time getting into the holiday spirit considering her money troubles and Deception’s misfortunes. At least a soaking-wet Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) stopped by to distract her. A pipe burst in his apartment, but Felicia had some spare dry men’s clothes in the car to help out.
While he managed to get his computers to safety, he needed a place to stay so it’s a good thing that Maxie now has a big house because Spinelli became her roommate. Spinelli was hesitant at first but Georgie helped seal the deal.
When Felicia and Spinelli were alone, we learned this was all part of a plot. Apparently, Felicia asked him to tell the flood story so that Maxie could have a tenant who pays rent, thus relieving her of some of her financial worries.
Joss And Trina’s Christmas Eve
Joss (Courtney Fulk) and Dex (Evan Hofer) got ready for his first Christmas with her family but were surprised to see that Adam (Joshua Benard) was still in the dorms and hadn’t gone home for Christmas. He chose to stay there alone, but Joss still worried about him. What would he even eat over the holiday break?
Adam admitted he didn’t want his parents pushing him about his grades and school so he told them he had an internship over break. Joss was shocked that he once again lied to his folks, and Dex started to wonder what was really going on with Adam. Joss didn’t want to dig too deep at the moment. Instead, she invited him to her mom’s house for Christmas.
The Ashfords were ready for a holiday together as Curtis (Donnell Turner) made a very special announcement. He was going to go ahead with the experimental treatment that could help him walk again. Too bad Portia’s (Brook Keer) joy was cut short when her (least) favorite person arrived — Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez).
Portia tried to be cordial but Curtis knew better and asked his wife if she wanted to start the new year at odds with her daughter’s boyfriend. Portia didn’t have an answer but did facetiously blame Spencer for the Christmas lights going out. At least he offered to help fix them.
When Spencer told Curtis and Portia he loved Trina (Tabyana Ali), Portia asked him what he really knew about love. Spencer knew he needed to prove a lot to them but he assured Portia he did indeed know what love was. Inside, Spencer gifted Trina with a beautiful pair of diamond earrings.
