Last week Giovanni Mazza made his debut on General Hospital as Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) cousin, once or twice removed (the two never can keep the exact facts straight). At the time, speculation was rampant as to whether the young actor would be on only for the duration of the wedding or sticking around for the long haul. Now comes word that he’s been elevated to contract status.

Compared to many characters on the canvas, Mazza’s alter-ego is a veritable clean slate. So far we’ve learned that he’s a virtuoso at the violin (the lessons paid for by “Uncle Sonny” natch) and his soldier father was killed in action. Or was he?
Back when his initial apperance was being touted, Mazza penned on Instagram: “I am so honored, grateful, and ecstatic to announce the big news! The biggest thank you to [General Hospital] for bringing me on and [Matt Fletcher] for being the absolute best agent in Hollywood! So much love and joy to my new fam! YAY!!!”
