The weekend took a terrible turn for the Clay family when the mother of General Hospital’s Jay and Joey Clay (Ace) was admitted to the hospital. Mark Clay reached out to fans on social media to inform them of Lana’s condition.
Well Wishes
Mark took to the family’s Instagram page to issue a statement. “I wanted to share that Lana was admitted yesterday to the ICU with sepsis and critically low blood pressure. She is awake but very sick. Lana’s strength and transparency have always inspired us, and we’re rallying around her during this challenge that she will beat! -Mark”

On Sunday, Lana herself provided an update as well: “I just wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for all the love and support pouring in.” She wrote. “Mark has been incredibly helpful in managing everything on my behalf. My blood pressure is showing improvement. I have moved off the ICU floor. However, I’m facing two significant challenges at the moment, and although I’m not ready to discuss them yet, your understanding means the world to me. Right now, I’m feeling quite tired and weak, undergoing numerous blood tests and taking plenty of medication.Despite it all, I’m determined to keep fighting on. I’ve been uniquely faced with many challenges in my life and I intend to persevere again.I can’t wait to be back home with Joey, Jay, and my beloved bulldogs. Your support gives me strength, and I miss you all dearly, from our General Hospital fans to our neighbors, family, USC pals, bulldog friends, and beyond.”

UPDATE
On February 20th, Lana posted her health update on Instagram and explained more about her condition. She also thanked everyone for their kind words, support, and well wishes.
“Hey everyone, as I cozy up in my special sweater, feeling a bit more like myself, I just wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the overwhelming love and prayers that have surrounded me.
I also know many of you have been curious about what’s been happening, so here’s a bit more detail to fill you in.
For the last few months, I’ve been feeling extremely exhausted, but I chalked it up to the whirlwind of being a new mom to young twin boys, juggling work, and all the other responsibilities on my plate. Many of you know my love for Starbucks, and it’s no secret that I indulge multiple times a day. Plus, my go-to comfort food has been In-N-Out Burger, satisfying those cravings for something salty. Lately, I’ve also noticed some changes in my body, like hyperpigmentation spreading across my face and feeling dizzy whenever I stand up. Last week, I thought I was coming down with the flu, but things took a turn for the worse and I ended up in the emergency room.
To sum it up, I’ve been hospitalized for Sepsis, a severe and life-threatening condition caused by my body’s overwhelming response to infection, which can lead to organ failure. I’m dealing with Colitis, inflammation of my colon causing abdominal pain and digestive issues. My blood and metabolic counts are a disarray. And as most of you know from following me over the years, my history of Leukemia adds complexity, necessitating close monitoring. And I can’t fail to mention I also have an abnormal chest X-ray which needs further investigation.
And if that wasn’t enough……. yesterday I received the diagnosis of an incredibly rare Adrenal Insufficiency Disorder known as Addison’s Disease. This condition significantly impacts my body’s ability to produce the hormone cortisol, with my levels currently undetectable. I basically had what they call an Addisonian crisis, which is super serious and could’ve been fatal.
So here I am, trying my best to stay strong! Thank you all for sharing your experiences and advice—it means the world to me.
With love,
Baby Ace’s mom, Lan”
