Today’s General Hospital recap for November 17, 2023, details Austin’s attempt to save himself, Josslyn’s attempt to save Sprina, and Nina’s attempt to save her relationship with Willow.
Is Austin Holt Dead?
Jordan (Tanisha Harper) was surprised when Laura (Genie Francis) asked her if she wanted to be the permanent deputy mayor. With everything going on with her family, Laura needed a reliable deputy mayor and trusted Jordan implicitly. Before Jordan could answer, Cyrus (Jeff Kober) arrived to interrupt them.
He put on his sweet brother act, but as usual, Jordan and Laura didn’t buy it. But Cyrus had news! He landed a legitimate job washing dishes at the Port Charles Grille. The manager is committed to hiring former convicts. After he left, Jordan declared they didn’t believe a word he said. However, Laura wasn’t sure what to make of things.
Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) was shocked when Austin (Roger Howarth) dropped into the police station to spill his guts. He would tell him who Mason’s (Nathanyael Grey) boss was if he never had to testify and was immune from prosecution. That wasn’t good enough for Dante.
Austin explained he’d be killed if his boss ever found out he was there before Dante could arrest him. It took a while, but Austin finally spoke. He was happy to have the opportunity to do the right thing, but he couldn’t say the name Cyrus so he walked right out.
Dante immediately told Robert (Tristan Rogers) what happened and he agreed to give Austin immunity. Too bad Austin arrived home to find someone in his living room who shot him point blank in the chest.
Spencer and Trina Vent
Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) realized he’d gone overboard with flowers when he saw how many he actually sent to Trina’s (Tabyana Ali) dorm room. Josslyn (Eden McCoy) summoned him there to talk, but what he really needed to do was listen — especially when Spencer admitted he wasn’t sure if he could choose Trina over Ace.
However, Spencer could not stop gushing about how much he loved Trina and how amazing she was. He didn’t want to hurt her and give her up, but what about his brother, who was only a baby? He felt a baby needed him more.
Joss asked Spencer to think about what he was asking of Trina. She understood his points, but he needed to figure out if he could balance Ace and Trina in his life. She wanted him to see how unfair it was to everyone to spend all this time during the day with Trina, but always go home to Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) and Ace.
When Trina showed up at the Ashford home, she was clearly upset so Curtis (Donnell Turner) decided to play dad and find out what was going on. Curtis and Marshall (Robert Gossett) agreed to have an open mind as she told them her latest Spencer problems.
Trina was adamant that she did not want to break up with Spencer, but she didn’t like him sharing a home with Esme and Ace. Spencer was Ace’s brother and not his father and Spencer needed to accept that. Curtis had a counter-argument. Nikolas had abandoned both his sons so Spencer felt he needed a more active role in his brother’s life.
Trina didn’t care. Esme might not remember what she did to her but Trina did and she couldn’t stand watching Spencer and Ace co-parent. She’d reached her limit and that was that. In the end, Marshall got Trina to see she needed to listen to Spencer’s feelings. She even admitted that he was the real deal. In the end, Curtis got Trina to agree to talk to Spencer.
Carly’s Big Dilemma
Carly (Laura Wright) was happy to see Michael (Chad Duell) and Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) stop into Kelly’s. Willow couldn’t wait for Michael to know that Nina (Cynthia Watros) offered to sell her share of the Metro Court. Michael had to feign surprise or Willow would know he was emotionally blackmailing her mother.
Carly explained how she saw Nina having an intense conversation with Marty before she suddenly asked her to the Metro Court back. Willow felt it was the perfect way to heal their family, which was not what Michael was going for when he made demands of Nina.
When Carly pointed out that she didn’t have the money to pay for it, Willow asked Michael to help. He was perfectly willing so but Carly turned him down. She wanted to find a way to buy the shares herself.
Sonny (Maurice Benard) dropped into the Metro Court restaurant to ask Nina why on Earth she would sell her share to Carly so she gave him the same excuse she gave Carly. Owning it was becoming too much for her and she wanted to focus on Crimson.
Nina also admitted she wanted to start fresh, make amends, and leave the past in the past. She’d never be friends with Carly but she didn’t want any more animosity between them. Sonny was just hurt because she didn’t tell him about her offer first. He still appreciated her attempt to make peace.
