Today’s General Hospital recap for November 23, 2023, details an eventful Thanksgiving in Port Charles with some surprise returns to mark the day.
Another Turkey Ruined At the Qs
Leo (Easton Rocket Sweda) and Ned (Wally Kurth) spent some bonding time taking care of Cody’s (Josh Kelly) alpaca. Leo wondered if Ned (Wally Kurth) liked animals better than himself or Eddie, so Ned explained he was always Ned, but Eddie helped him take a break from life. When Cody asked how his alpaca was doing, Leo was sure he would rather be posing for pics for Cody and his girlfriend, Sasha (Sofia Mattsson).
Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) was ready to give up on Thanksgiving after so many turkey disasters in the past but Lois (Rena Sofer) wouldn’t hear of it. Soon, there was a knock at the door, and Gloria Cerullo (Ellen Travolta) and all her Brooklyn cheer barrelled into the house. She took the bus from Bensonhurst and was now ready for a real Thanksgiving.
Both ‘Nedly’ and Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) were thrilled to see Gloria and shared a tender reunion. Gloria was quite impressed with Chase (Josh Swickard), but she needed to make her way to the kitchen. She and Lois were going to prepare a Brooklyn-style Thanksgiving feast. They were sure they’d be eating turkey and not pizza.
When Sasha arrived, Leo was happy to see Cody’s girlfriend. Even Gloria thought they were together. It was also clear that something was bothering Gloria, especially since she wasn’t spending the holiday with her sister back in Canarsie, the best community in all of Brooklyn.
Things seemed to be going well with the meal for a while, with Ned announcing he hadn’t smelled real Thanksgiving food since the 90s. Even Yuri was helping chop onions in the kitchen, so what could possibly go wrong?
Well, a lot as this was the Quartermaine house. The turkey seemed fine at first, but just as everyone was ready to sit down for dinner, the smoke alarm went off telling the Qs they needed to call that pizza shop they had on speed dial once again.
Emma Arrives
Anna (Finola Hughes) woke to Robert (Tristan Rogers) banging on her hotel room door. She let him in and explained she just wanted a pity party Thanksgiving but Robert was ready for a good day. He had a surprise in store, but Anna didn’t want any more shocks.
She couldn’t keep her mind off Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) and the now-dead Forsythe, as well as all the evidence that disappeared from her storage trunk. Anna insisted she was too much of a hot mess to do anything and Robert agreed, telling her that she looked pathetic. He forced her to get dressed and put herself together because he had a good day planned.
When she was finally put together, there was another knock on the door and this time Anna was thrilled to see who was there. It was their granddaughter Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) who was certainly a sight for sore eyes. Emma knew Charlotte had been shot, but didn’t know the details. That’s why she thought they’d be seeing Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Charlotte for the holiday.
Laura And Valentin Confront Charlotte
Laura (Genie Francis) and Valentin brought Charlotte home for the holiday. When she went to her room, Laura had a stern talk with Valentin. It was time he did something about his daughter. In fact, Laura thought they were doing too much to protect her and now it was time to intervene and break the hold Victor had on the teen.
That’s when Charlotte walked back into the room and wanted to know what they were talking about. When Laura tried to ask her why she was at Anna’s, Charlotte once again claimed she was just bringing back her keys. Finally, Valentin knew the lies had to stop.
He told his daughter Anna did not shoot her intentionally and he blamed himself for what happened because he knew what she had been up to and did nothing about it. Even when he told her about the spray paint found in her backpack, she lied and claimed it was for street art.
After Valentin told her they found the letter from Victor (Charles Shaughnessy), she insisted Anna was still dangerous and was manipulating everyone while refusing to believe her grandfather manipulated her. She still kept swearing Anna was dangerous, but was shocked when Valentin accused her of setting fire to Anna’s house.
Charlotte kept insisting she wasn’t an arsonist and that Victor was right about Anna all along. As Laura and Valentin explained what a bad man Victor was, Charlotte became more distraught and went outside distraught. Laura insisted that Valentin leave her alone and let her think about what they told her.
A Davis Family Holiday
Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) welcomed Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Kristina (Kate Mansi) as they awaited more guests for Thanksgiving. Molly (Kristen Vaganos), TJ (Tajh Bellow), and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) were the next to arrive, but everyone was walking on eggshells not wanting to upset Molly. Still, Molly tried to put on a happy face so they could have a good day.
While the rest of the family was distracted, Kristina placed a call to her new friend Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and invited her over for Turkey Day. Amazingly, Blaze was going to spend the day alone so she welcomed the invitation and rushed over to Alexis’s house.
All anyone could do was rave about what an incredible singer Blaze was while making her feel at home. However, poor Molly needed a break and escaped to the porch where Sam found her and gave her a pep talk. She later did the same for Kristina and told her how proud she was of her.
