Today’s General Hospital recap for October 18, 2023, details Ava’s anger and fears. Plus, Portia and Curtis tried to face their problems while Tracy told Lois exactly why she now owns more than half of Deception.
Ava’s Ordeal is Nowhere Near Over
Carly (Laura Wright) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) couldn’t believe their eyes when they opened the front door to find Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Dex (Evan Hofer), and Ava (Maura West) there. All Ava wanted was to see Avery and make sure she was ok. When Ava ran upstairs to see her daughter, Carly demanded answers from Josslyn so Dex explained all. Ava was in some big trouble but at least Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Dante were able to help. When Josslyn learned the details of what happened, she realized she could have lost Dex.
After Ava checked on Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola), Dex started questioning Ava to see if she heard Mason talking to his boss. He needed a clue as to who the big boss was but Ava was no help. However, she was clearly angry because when Austin called to see how she was, Ava refused to answer her phone.
Austin was shocked when he was introduced to his new gunshot wound patient — his cousin Mason (Nathanyael Grey). He asked for another doctor to treat him due to their family connection but once they were alone, Austin demanded to know where Ava was. Mason didn’t have an answer for him and only remembered Ava screaming when the bullet hit him.
When Dante tried to check on Mason, Jordan (Tanisha Harper) informed him that the Pawtuck police were investigating him for shooting Mason outside of his jurisdiction. She then put him on administrative leave.
Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Nina (Cynthia Watros) enjoyed their honeymoon in bed with Nina asking her new husband to leave all his stress behind. Too bad Carly’s phone call put a damper on things. As they listened to the sounds of waves, Carly couldn’t wait to report on Ava’s abduction. Now they knew why they couldn’t find Ava in time for the wedding. However, Carly had even worse news. Not only was Ava kidnapped and now fine, but Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) had been released from Pentonville. Sonny seemed to realize that it was Cyrus who was after him.
Curtis Won’t Let Portia Get Close
Curtis (Donnell Turner) struggled to get into bed before Portia (Brook Kerr) surprised him by asking him if he wanted company. She needed something to talk about so Portia began planning Trina’s college graduation party two years ahead of schedule. This just reminded Curtis that he wouldn’t be able to dance with her.
Portia begged Curtis to talk to her about his feelings and not shut her out. She wanted to be close again, but Curtis resisted the idea because he knew he could no longer please her sexually. Portia insisted that sex wasn’t all she wanted. She desired affection and Curtis could still provide that. Curtis had to admit he wasn’t ready to be close yet. Portia informed Curtis that they’d never get their marriage back on track unless he allowed her back into his life on an emotional level. Portia agreed to take things slowly and believed Curtis would come back to her again.
Tracy Has News About Deception
Lois (Rena Sofer) took Tracy (Jane Elliot) to task for blackmailing Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) into committing corporate espionage. Tracy defended herself as Lois told her she was a failed grandmother. Tracy insisted she was just calling in a favor and there was nothing wrong with that. Tracy explained how BLQ didn’t write a letter on Chase’s (Josh Swickard) behalf to the PCPD civilian review board so Chase didn’t get his job back. It was Tracy who used his connections to get her another hearing.
When Lois accused Tracy of going after Deception out of her own greed, Tracy informed her that she got her 51% ownership to hand it over to Brook Lynn. Apparently, Tracy tried to buy the company outright but Lucy (Lynn Herring) refused to sell so Tracy resorted to deceptive measures for Deception. Tracy wasn’t about to let BLQ waste her life in the music business like her mother did.
Kristina (Kate Mansi) was still amazed that Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) was actually in Puerto Rico on Sonny’s private island. The two women bonded over margaritas and Kristina’s bartending skills. Blaze couldn’t wait to toast to herself and her new job as the Face of Deception. While she hadn’t accepted the offer yet, she was close to telling Lucy and Maxie yes. She only hesitated because she didn’t want her life to become an open book with the press.
