On The Young and the Restless, Summer is at a crossroads in her life — especially her love life. She’s estranged from Kyle and they seem further apart than ever while she pines for Chance, a man who seems to only think of her as a friend.
Summer’s Quite Confused
After a few years as a schemer who plotted to bed her mother’s boyfriend and steal Kyle (Michael Mealor) from Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle), Summer (Allison Lanier) has settled into a more grown-up life as a career woman and mother to Kyle’s young son Harrison. As she pointed out to the perpetually immature Phyllis, she is a grown-up now and doesn’t have the time or the drive to play games anymore.
However, that does not seem to stop her from lusting after a man who is with another woman. While Summer makes googly eyes at Chance (Conner Floyd) as if she is still a teenager and fantasizes about telling him her feelings, he remains absolutely oblivious to the fact that Summer wants him. Instead, he sees her as a pal but Sharon (Sharon Case) as the woman he wants to be with romantically.
Summer now knows that Sharon is not in love with Chance and that seems good enough for Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) who has been encouraging her daughter to grab hold of who and what she wants, but should she?
Should Summer Go For Broke?
The ink on Summer’s divorce papers isn’t even dry yet and it’s clear that Summer still has feelings for Kyle. Their marriage ended because they both lied to one another about their mothers, but Kyle decided he was much more unforgiving than Summer and quickly entered into a steamy affair with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver), a woman who once dated Summer’s brother, Noah. Diane (Susan Walters) even tried to push the pair together recently, but Kyle wasn’t interested.
Does that mean Summer should give up on Kyle and run straight to Chance knowing he is still with Sharon? Or, will Sharon choose to end things with Chance since the relationship doesn’t seem to be going anywhere? After all, Sharon really doesn’t want to compete with Nick’s daughter of all people for a man’s affections. That would free Chance up for Summer, but is it the direction that Nick and Phyllis’s ‘Supergirl’ should take?
