Sasha Calle, who bid The Young and the Restless and Genoa City adieu in 2021 in order to assume the part of Kara Zor-El, AKA Supergirl, in the super-hero flick The Flash, won’t be a part of the ever-evolving franchise moving forward.
Sasha Calle Hangs Up Her Cape
Deadline was the first to report that actress Milly Alcock, best known for her turn as young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s House of Dragons, would assume the part. In an Instagram post, James Gunn, who was named co-CEO of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran, enthused, “Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira.”
Now that Calle’s career as the so-called Woman of Tomorrow has been grounded, at least for the time being (but don’t assume she won’t ever again don the suit. After all, there are three incarnations of Supergirl in the comics), might she return to her old stomp grounds? Anything’s possible.
