Jordi Vilasuso, an alum of The Young and the Restless and Days of our Lives, and his wife Katlin welcomed their third daughter, preemie Lucy Noelle one month ago today. Soon the wee one was in the NICU battling respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and the parents were asking for prayers to be sent her way. Now comes positive word from Katlin who’s understandably excited to share Lucy Noelle’s recently achieved milestones.
Update From Katlin Vilasuso
First and foremost, Katlin’s “little peanut” is one month old (and irony of ironies, the proud momma is marking what would have been her due date!). But, even better is that, “Lucy had a GOOD day yesterday.”
In the Instagram post, which you can read in full below, Katlin shared, “Her doctors had turned down her CPAP (the pressure that she’s getting oxygen) from 6 to 5 on Sunday to try to start weaning and she really struggled. She was having desats throughout the day and coughing a lot and her respiratory rate kept spiking.. she was pulling her feeding tube out and they kept having to put it back in and it was just a really rough one.
“Then yesterday, for whatever reason, they decided to give her a chance to get off of the machine and see how she would do with the regular cannula and my goodness did she surprise us. Her stats were better all day than they had been the day before and she was doing so well that they let her try bottle feeding.”
Attached to the post is a video of Lucy Noelle trying milk for the first time, and she very much approves. Or, as Katlin so hilariously put it, “Girlfriend loves eating as much as her mama.”
With the baby taking to the bottle feeding like a champ, the doctors were able to remove the tube, and according to Katlin, “Providing things keep improving (🙏🏻), we’re going to try breast-feeding today and see how her stats look.”
The mother of three admits to struggling to manage her expectations, but encouragingly offered, “For the first time since we got here- it feels like there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.”
